this is JVG' strategy whenever he does laker games let kobe score in the first 3 quarters and not get his teammates involved (make him work hard though). then double him in the 4th and make his teammates beat you.
We should definitely double him in the late 4th quarter. Kobe is a great player, but he's still human. You play him one on one whole game long, but double in the closing minutes. Even he just need one single possession to adjust, it's still our gain. I don't see him beating a double time, with Shane and/or Artest with another player, easily. PJ generally doesn't double other team's star players, but he will mix it up in the fourth. Like he usually let whoever guards Yao to play one on one, behind him, while shutting everyone else down. In the fourth quarter, he starts to send in double team, and even a few fronting from time to time. I would say as important as we double Kobe in the late 4th quarter, we have to go to Yao relentlessly in the first half. I am talking about every single possession, while we can. We don't have closers, so we need to build a lead as much as possible.
i would like to see this matchup.. i think von has the quickness to stay with kobe but i don't know if he could hold him in the post
I would worry more about Odom if I were a Rockets fan. Artest and Battier are going to do the best you can on Kobe outside of what the Celtics were able to do with James Posey on that team last year.
lol, double team in the 4th if he's on fire?.....IF?...IF?.... Force the ball out of Kobe & Artest's hands in the 4th..or we get torched....
