I am a California kid whose favorite team for the last seven or eight years has been the Clippers, and I find myself in an odd situation. Next year I will be going to the University of Texas, and I will inevitably end up with a rooting interest in one of the Texas teams. So I decided to adopt the Rockets, because my closest friend in Texas is from Houston, and I have admired the franchise ever since Horry killed the knicks. In a perfect world, the Clips trade the #8, #12, and someone like Maggete for Andre Miller or Baron Davis, but that is just my dream. More realistically, swapping for the #1 makes some sense. So I want Rockets fan's opinions on what would be a fair trade for both teams. Thank you. P.S.- Could you imagine the raw talent on the floor- pg-Williams 2g-Richardson/Miles sf-Odom pf-Brand
If the Clips swapped for the #1 pick, they wouldn't be keeping all 5 of those players that you listed.
How about: #1, Kenny Thomas, and Moochie Norris for Lamar Odom, #8, #12, and the rights to Marko Jaric.
The ONLY way I'd even remotely consider trading w/ the Clips is if they offer: Darrius Miles, Olowokandi, the #8 and #12 to Houston FOR the #1 overall, #15, Kelvin Cato and Kenny Thomas *In other words, it AIN'T gonna happen! By the way, how'd you end up in the BEST school in Texas, if not the country?! Hook 'EM.....
1) Welcome to Clutch City. 2) You're gonna love Austin..alot of us here do. 3) I don't want to give up #1 so.... you tell me what Sterling would give for #15 + Kenny Thomas. Hey... what's the word on Maxing Kandi-man. We hear that Brand is on record that if they don't Max Kandi, they're not serious about winning and he's gone. Any truth to this?
Say the Clips lose BOTH Odom and Olowokandi to free-agency. Would they do this trade: our #15 and Kenny Thomas for their #8 pick? I'd be willing to!
ESource - You're gonna hate me but... Kandi-man is not an unrestricted FA. The Clipps (who are well under the cap) can easily match offers for him. The only other two teams that could make realistic offers are the Bulls and the Wiz. (Not that they would, but they could). Odom doesn't have the same status as Kandi until next summer. Now for your question. The Clippers have historically been a revolving door for talent. They let FA's walk rather than get into bidding wars for them. Probably more by luck than design, the Clipps have put together some impressive young talent. The $64k question is whether or not owner Donald Sterling Maxes Kandi (and then Brand) or continues with the revolving door. If it's the door, #15 + KT for #8 is appealing to the Clipps because KT has a low salary.
Now that Mobley has gone on a nationally televised rant about him and Francis (i) wanting a proven player , (ii) wanting to win now, and (ii) wanting Odom specifically, I'm giving up my obsession with McDyess and switching to Odom. Also, after Mobley's comment about how drafting JWill would be an insult to Francis, I'm going to quit talking about that for a few days. I have read about trading Rice and No. 1 for Odom and No. 8. Any truth to this??? (Pothead versus Ming? I'll take Pothead.) I honestly hope people quit talking about trading KT - he is easily our best PF, at least until Griffin demonstrates that he can take that position over. I gotta believe that Les wants to win now. If CD and Rudy are getting pressure from Les, Francis and Mobley, they will be hard pressed to take Ming. Gater: I still remember you saying not to get too excited if Stern announces "With the first pick, the Rockets select Jay Williams." If that happens, I'm assuing he is going to the Warriors or Clips.
My bad, Thanks! If Sterling continues to let guys "walk" then mabe a trade of #15 and KT for their #8 could work! Who would you then take w/ the #8?
anyone have links to caron butlers workout that i can watch on windows media player?? i don't have realone . thanks w00tt ... im a rockets fan, but mAN! lakers sure do kick butt
your question has pretty much been answered but i juss wanted to say...clipjoint? do you uh, hang out with odom and taylor?
Best available regardless of need. Depending on workouts and pre-draft camps. Here are some possibilities: Nicoloz Tskitishvili / Qyntel Woods / Jared Jeffries / "Nene" Hilario Unless he is all hype (and early indications are he is not), I lean towards Hilario. If draft Ming, he is a great hedge against Ming being a bust (not that I think he will, but it's always good to have a backup plan). If we don't draft Ming, he is almost a necessity.
actually the legit rumor that is being circulated in the media is the #1 + Rice for Odom + #8 and #12
