Also whats going to be said is the Rockets are the only team not to win the championship after going at least 20 games in a row, which makes it look real bad and is actually making the streak look like it was a fluke, also the team that stopped it was the Champs of the season (Celtics) , the streak is nothing to be proud of.
2nd round since in the grand scheme of things, 22 wins is just a nice accomplishment with no real rewards. 2nd round gets you that closer to the championship.
I had more fun with the 22 streak. It lasted over a month and was freaking awesome. It was like a Game 7 every night.
There is more to the 2nd round being better than winning a playoff series. -First off, we stopped being a laughing stock to the NBA about being 2nd round virgins. -Second off, we stopped a 12 year tenure of early 1st round exits. -Third off, Regular season accomplishments don't get you anything at all -Fourth off, we are no longer known as a regular season team and known to fold in the playoffs. We just gained respect by getting out of the 1st round. We earned temporary respect with that 22 game win streak.
2nd round 22 win streak is good but we still did not get out the 1st round. Sure a Championship is the goal so just getting to the 2nd round isn't great but last time I checked we did not win a Championship the year we won 22 in a row. Hell we did not even make it to the 2nd round.
We were SUPPOSED to make the second round. If we didn't make the second round, Adelman may as well have been fired. The series was not even that close. And 25% of the NBA makes the second round.
22 games winning streak looks like a joke when we crumbled in front of the j*zz in the first round. seriously, who cares how well we played in the regular season? The ultimate goal is to win a championship! Hence, second round >>>> 22 games, because it means we are still in the pursuit of the championship trophy!
Seconded. This is ridiculous. I'm all for celebrating getting to the second round after a 12-year drought -- I myself was so giddy with joy that night I was screaming like a mad man. But seriously, get some perspective, people. Eight NBA teams get to the second round every year. It really isn't much of an accomplishment. That's why I was disgusted when I saw offseason trade and acquisition threads popping up in the GARM after the game 6 victory. This isn't any kind of championship. Heck, we didn't even win the division. It's good to celebrate, but try not to look pathetic while doing it.
Decades from now when I look back to previous Rockets seasons, the 22 game winning streak will be something I remember with great clarity. The 2nd round appearance and subsequent destruction at the hands of the Lakers will not be remembered, and gladly so.

I have been wearing some form of rockets gear (usually a ballcap) for years almost everyday. NEVER has anyone been like "Alright! Rockets!" During the winning streak I had 5 people do that to me and specifically mention the streak. They knew the current number. This town was going freaking crazy. Toyota center was a madhouse in the REGULAR SEASON.
