Most of the Rockets team was against the Drexler trade, and Robert Horry was probably chief among them. After playing with Drexler, Horry's attitude changed, and the team won a championship. In the end Horry couldn't rave enough about how much fun it was to play with Drexler, and that people didn't know how good Drexler was until actually playing with him etc.

Maybe Cat and Steve don't want Ming right now, but after playing with him, their attitude could change. A lot can happen in one year. It seems similar to the Drexler trade.

Both Cat and Steve obviously care about the team and what happens, and people can agree with or disagree with the moves that those two guys would make. I hope CD, Les, and Rudy do disagree.

But because they do want Odom, I don't think it warrants people hating them and trying to trade them away. After all Odom is a really good player and we do have a need at small forward. If getting Ming means we can't have Odom then I'll take Ming, but I won't hate our two best players for having a differing opinion.

    great post. i agree 100%.

they want a buddy of thiers that happens to fit in our system and thier style of play perfectly. he will make both of them better.

but we can have our cake and eat it too. (i never understood that saying. if you have your cake you will eat it. )

we can draft ming and work out a trade for odom that uncludes he #15 and rice/moT.

i agree as well, this is very similar to the clyde situation. there's no need in jumping down our 2 best player's throats because of a candid interview and heresay.

    excellent post.

I posted something similar in another thread.

I agree 100%, BUT....Cuttino showed our hand. Him opening his mouth like that could have hurt any chances we may have had of getting Odom without losing the #1 pick.

I don't want to see Cuttino traded, and I certainly don't hate the man, but he needs to keep his friggin' mouth SHUT, especially if we may be in a situation to get him anyway.

lynus- i disagree. if this was rudy or cd saying, we desperately need odom, we'll do almost anything to get him, then i'd be pissed. that would blow our hand, but not a player expressing an opinion on who'd he like to play with. i just can't see how that makes a difference.

I agree that players talking about what they want is only a minor concern if a concern at all.

I think it only seems major when it's put in print and over analyzed and hyped up over and over. It seems like each reaction increases the level of hype to a new level, and none of it seems warranted.

Maybe that's what happens in the off season when fans have too much time on their hands.

I just hope our players don't start feeling unappreciated.

That was the best Valentine's Day ever! :)

I think people are making way too much of what Mobley said. I think the Rockets will be very happy with this offseason.

i never understood it for a long time but it means you can't have your cake (as in sitting on the table for you to look at and appreciate i assume) and eat it also. if you eat it, you no longer have it. have doesn't mean eat in this sense.

Just have to say this, When the Drexler trade happened thats the moment I became a Rockets fan for LIFE. My idol turned me into a fan of Hakeem Olajuwon.....Robert Horry, Sam Cassell, Mario Elie,Matt bullard, Chucky Brown, Kenny the Jet, and yes even Pete Chilcutt. All cause of Drexler I can say I'm a proud fan of the HOUSTON ROCKETS. :D

I would hope that Francis and Mobley go into the season with an open mind.
