    Nope.

The only chance we get is we treat the Lakers like the Giants treated the Bills in the greatest Super Bowl ever.

Lakers are better on many fronts. But they are not in our league defensively or ruggedness.

We punch them in the freakin mug in game 1 and let them know we are here to play. Then, we beat the crap out of them the rest of the series.

The minute we try to be in a shootout, we will lose by 20 each and every game.

Kobe's not Tracy, he doesn't need more motivation than he already has.

It's a ploy by Artest. Just like with Boston and the Pistons a while back, get Kobe motivated and let him shoot his team out of the game.

Kobe will get his points in one game or two games, but if he plays one on five, we have a better chance. He can't score 40+ every game and those that he doesn't, he'll have Ron there in which Kobe will keep shooting.

    Or I hope.

The rockets have a better chance to win the games if Kobe is going to try to score the 40 points in every game, the data have proved it. The worst case is Kobe plays as a distributor, then everyone in that team can score, then we have less chance.

When Artest said those comments about Roy he was staring off into space so even though he said it he didn't believe it. It was all mental warfare and it worked. Like the others I hope that Kobe does try to do it all on his own. That might give us a shot to keep it close and steal a game or two.

I doubt it works though. Maybe Kobe of yesteryear would get sucked into it but I think he's matured enough not to get pulled into the mind games. He does learn from the best mind gamer of all. Phil Jackson.

    this stuff is complete BS

Josh smith showed them up, oh my Wade is going to respond, its friggin Game 6, win or go home, he better Respond.

Artest basically said Roy is toughest matchup for him to guard, oh my Kobe gets pissed, Kobe should be motivated Regardless of what Artest says.

Essentially what Artest said is what Yao could say about his matchups, He could say Nowitzki is the hardest player he's guarded (bigman) but everyone would be infuriated knowing that Howard is the guy who is the ultimate big man but anyone in their right mind knows Yao pwns Howard.

I agree that Artest purposely paid those compliments to Roy to incite Kobe but it's a little discerning that Artest was already jumping to the next series before finishing this one. It's a good thing that it worked out in the end.

Exactly. This is my whole point.

Once again, did you guys watch Game 4 against the j*zz? Kobe had a pretty good game and scored lots of points....and the lakers won BIG. Not sure where you guys are getting this "when he scores lots of points, the lakers lose" logic. Maybe in 2006 or 2007, but not in 2009.

I love Artest and respect him wanting a piece of Kobe, but I'm just not sure if you need to give him ANY extra motivation. Real or implied.

Come on Ron, you know better than that. Kobe dropped 42 on your ass earlier in your career, yes the exact same number as Roy. He also should know better because he's not that good anymore. I wish some1 would tell Artest he should gamble less often on defense because he's still very good and should just stand his ground. That way, Roy would've never had 42.

Also I think Battier should guard Ron most of the time imo because Kobe is going to go crazy on Artest.

I don't care if it motivates Kobe or not (my guess is that it will), but I really want it to motivate Ron. He got torched by Kobe in the regular season, so he needs to step up his game defensively to back up his talk. I would love for him to get under Kobe's skin and wipe that smirk off his face, so far, Kobe's delivered the goods.

Wouldn't mind if Kobe score a 100 on us and we win by 1 point.

The key to beat LA is to outscore them. They are ranked 5 as the defensive team vs us being the number 4 on that list. Both teams are capable of shutting down other team. This game will depend on who can score in the final mins.

It really amuses me how people get caught in those B.S cliches like "extra motivation" and "uses it as motivation" ..

so you actually think that Kobe plays at less-than-optimal level the whole time, but when Ronald Artest says that Roy is better than him, he will suddenly flip a motivational switch and drop 40 on us? I mean, how does that even make sense? do some of you ever try to use simple human intuition to see which cliches are valid and which AREN'T? so you actually believe that Kobe's jump shooting ability (which I would say is 80% of his scoring and the single most important part of Kobe's game today) will improve dramatically upon getting this ultra motivation from Artest?
