Honestly, except for the last game, Portland did way better than I thought they would. For having so few offensive weapons, they gave the Rox quite a fight. I'm glad Artest gave the Blazers some props. Yeah, Portland is a beautiful city, so they can say bad things about Houston's skyline I guess. I'm just not sure which skyline they're talking about - we've got maybe three of them... LA, however, is a hell-hole... I didn't care for the NaNaNaNa stuff, but Beat LA is perfectly appropriate. My dislike for the Fakers goes way further back than my Jazz hate -- back to Chamberlain days, and certainly back to Jabbar and Johnson. Don't you just want to wipe that smirk off Jack Nicholson's mug? BEAT LA!
Yeah, well they come from a different place. You have to realize he wasn't talking about the skyscrapers, he was talking about the fact that we don't have Mt Hood as a backdrop for the city like they do or the gazillion bridges in the middle of the city... http://www.allamericanplumbinginc.net/files/QuickSiteImages/Portland_Oregon_skyline.jpg
I don't see anything wrong with it... much better than "PORTLAND SUCKS!" which is not really classy or witty at all.
He was doing a rendition of Shaq's "Kobe how does my ass taste?" entitled "Tracy how does my ass taste". Naah, Ron was nothing but clean, he said he wanted the crowd to sing happy birthday for his son, and above all to give that blazers team the props they deserved.
i agree with you and most others on this. it was nothing against portland. i enjoyed watching them, they are a great team and gave us a good series. but we wanted this so badly that it hurt so it felt so good to clinch. we meant those chants (i participated) in "thank you houston, with all respect to portland" kind of way. it was not meant to be directed at portland. altho i don't care much for pryzbilla.
This is true. That chant on top of the other may have made it sound worse. Aw well bring on the Lakers.
"Portland sucks" was unnecessary because frankly, they don't. Still, it's not unexpected. My respect goes out to the Blazers and their fans. They got a new fan in me.
