I am so happy they advanced. It's just the first round though, Its a great accomplishment, but we have won two championships before. I feel bad for T mac, because if he was playing he gets out off the first round finally and maybe the burden is lifted off of his shoulders as well. Lets face it the playoffs are all about matchups. Ala San Antonio/Dallas or Dallas//Golden State Rockets//Jazz. The Rockets are a much superior team to the Blazers. So that was probably the best first round match up for the Rockets. Now its on to LA. I would love to see the Rockets knock off the Lakers like the 93 Rockets beat Phoenix. I am cheering for these guys and the city off Houston, but please do not bash any member off this Rockets team, including T mac because he is a part of this team just like all the other guys. He just has had bad matchups in the first round. So if you are a Rockets fan do not take away from this moment !
I hope some Video of the whole game shows up. I missed the first Half like a million others watching TNT. But I knew it was going good when Kevin Harlan (doing the Boston game) said, 'Houston can smell blood'...
So there I was in my apt. in NYC watching the game, hooting and hollering. Then after the win when I came here to cheer along with all of you....but I got shut out and couldn't access the board. It was like not being able to see the first half of the game on TNT. Oh well, guess it just wasn't my day. Still thrilled for the team though but it would have been more fun to share it with you all live rather than now, which seems lame. GO ROCKETS!
Hey guys found the post game interview for Ron and Yao from another site. Just add the .avi extension after download. http://rapidshare.com/files/227923031/043009_PostgamePresser_Gm6
the best game i have attented. the feeling when the clock was running down at the end knowing that wer going to the next round was unbelievable.
CONGRATULATIONS Rockets...I feel relieved, like a weight has been lifted off our shoulders.. Now lets BEAT LA
Damn!! They not only crashed and burned here at TC, but they're experiencing "Technical difficulties" on their forum!!LOL!! http://www.blazersedge.com/
Passing the first round is what rockets deserved long time ago, it is not a miracle. Now let's make a miracle to win the championship and beating lakers will be a good start!!!!!!!!!! Let's go rockets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations. Long time reader but seldom post. I guess I have to post anyway, every time a playoff game ends, I can only see "you don't have privilege to see the forum...."
Ron Artest FINALLY showed up in this series. This is what everybody was waiting for with Artest. It wasn't the outside jumpers, but the fact that he was attacking the basket and making good decisions pretty much all game. I think that was triggered by a big mistake by Nate McMillan who started Rudy Fernandez over Batum, who had done a good job defensively on Artest with his length along with Outlaw. Once Artest got going against Roy inside, he didn't stop. He just kept going in attack mode, and then his outside jumper came with that as well. Simply put, Ron Artest finally proved me wrong, and I'm glad he did. Yao was a big presence once again, and he stepped up to the challenge this series. He didn't get pushed around like he did vs. Utah the last time he was in the playoffs. He played more like the Yao Ming vs. Shaq in 04, who was not intimidated by a prime Shaq. He played like he did vs. Dallas, overcoming all of their different defensive looks and bad reffing towards Yao specifically. Yao dictated this series, with and without the ball. If he wasn't scoring, he was rebounding and blocking shots at the very least and being a presence at the rim. Then when he was scoring, he did it at will, and drew a high number of fouls on Pryzbilla, Oden, and Aldridge all series long. I am really glad to see Yao out of the 1st round, because he really worked hard for it and proved all the doubters wrong about his physicality and health. The man came back early to play in the Olympics, and played in 75 games this year, pretty impressive for a 7'6 player. Scola was very consistent with effort every game. He had a tough assignment covering Aldridge, but he tried to go toe to toe with him, and didn't do too bad, to be quite honest. He made them pay for fronting and doubling Yao. Battier's value was shown in this series. He didn't always show up in the box score, but he was checking Roy, Fernandez, and Outlaw, and he did a great job on the bench guys. He made Roy take contested jumpers, and he made him work for everything. He chased everybody around screens, he had timely 3's and rebounds. Most importantly, he plays the game with knowledge, which is very underrated toady in the NBA. Our point guards outplayed the the TrailBlazers's point guards. Though they are inconsistent, as you would expect with young point guards, the got the job done. They will HAVE to play better vs. the Lakers, but they did enough to beat the Blazers. Brooks did a good job of attacking early in the series, and Lowery always did a good job of calming down the Rockets and getting to the foul line. Our benchplay was very important. Von Wafer was great for most of the series, outplaying Fernandez. He gutted it out in game 6 with a bad back, and hopefully he can get better by Monday, because he excels against LA. Landry had some trouble, but in Games 3,4 and 6 he was HUGE. He got our bench going in the 1st half of game 3, he got a few offensive rebounds in the 4th quarter of game 4, and he made good smart plays in Game 6 on both ends of the court. Chuck Hayes was great when he was playing. Just like he did in Game 5 vs. Utah in 2007, he drew a game saving charge, this time on Brandon Roy. He did a good job on Aldridge and Oden, even though he is considerably shorter than both of them. Overally, I am really proud of this team for taking care of business and playing hard to overcome not having Homecourt Advantage, not having a true playmaker like Tmac, losing Deke in Game 2, and the fronting defenses vs. Yao. Now, the Rockets really have to step up their game to beat the Lakers. I think it will definitely be competitive, but it will be tough to beat beat the Lakers 4 times, but not impossible. We've seen the great regular season Sonics teams lose in round 1 in 94 and 95. We saw the Mavs who won 67 games lose in 5 to the Warriors. We saw a Detroit team without a superstar and a 6'9 center beat the "Hall of Fame Team" Lakers who had Shaq and Kobe in their primes. We saw the Hawks take a healthy Celtics team to 7 games. In Houston, we've witnessed a #8 seed team, 40-42 record make it to the Finals, we beat the Lakers in 86 4-1... and lets not forget we witnessed 14 years ago our Clutch City Rockets come out as the #6 seed, with no Home Court Advantage, beat a 60 win Utah team, a 59 win Phoenix team who had a 3-1 lead on us, a 62 win team in the Spurs who had the so called MVP that season, and a 57 win team Orlando Magic who had a young and exciting Shaq and Penny combo, who we swept. Anything is possible for a team playing with confidence, lets see how far this team can go!
