I read this post on the rockets message board at ESPN.com:

"A friend of mine was cleaning the floors over at Westside Tennis Club. He said he overheard one of the Asst. Coaches talking about an offer that Portland had made to CD and Rudy. He did not give any names, but this is what he heard...

"Portland is offering Bonzi Wells & Wallace for the #1 and Maurice Taylor. They want to rebuild and get rid of Wallace and his attitude. They realize we are trying to dump Mo's big contract as well. It's something to consider don't you think #@$%^&* (can't say who either of the 2 Gentlemen were)

I think if this rumor is true, this would really be a good trade for both teams. The Blazers could rebuild with a young talent of #1 pick Jason Williams and Maurice Taylor. The Rockets would have a BONA FIED low post scorer in Wallace. Bozi would be added to sweeten the deal. "

What about The Bill Walton Factor? He's a big Ming proponent and commented that he had already conveyed that info to the Blazers' management.

BTW, I don't like that deal.

I think we are better with Team A than Team B:

    Team A
    Ming
    EG
MoT/TMo/Rice (yeah put MoT at the 3)
    Mobeley
    Francis

    Team B
    Cato
    Wallace
    EG
    Mobeley/Bonzi
    Franci

Talent-wise that team would be great. But Francis, Mobley, Wells, Wallace, Cato. How on God's Green Earth will those five egos be able to exist on one team? That has "team turmoil" written all over it.

And what's the deal with the Rockets discussing all these trades with janitors around and in populated restaurants. What's next, a bathroom attendant overhearing Rudy and CD discussing the future of the Rockets franchise while they were using the restroom at some high-falutin restaurant. Or maybe this is part of their plan to spread rumors. ;)

From a chemistry standpoint i don't think that deal would work. Who would come of the bench Mobley or Wells? Not to mention i think we'd add other black hole to this team (Wells)

Sounds good to me. Well, except now you'll have 4 guys demand the ball.

So, I take it your friend is a janitor? This is getting good.

I agree, great trade on paper, but...

One of the main complaints about Portland is 'too many generals, not enough soldiers', and Wallace and Wells are allegedly among the biggest 'generals' the Blazers have.

The Rocks already have 2 'generals', do they really want to add 2 more?

If that trade were to happen cato would not be starting, so the lineup would look like this:

    C - Wallace/Griffin
    PF -Griffin/Wallace
    SF- Bonzi/Rice
    SG - Mobley
    PG -Francis

Even though it won't happen, that lineup is not bad at all. Those 2 are the best on Portland and now they have a huge upgrade at point with Wink instead of Damon, and Griffin is better than Dale Davis. but hard to compare with 2 different types of games.

Rice and Bonzi would compete for the starting 3 spot. either one would be good.

Wallace (if he exercises his player option) will make $16.2m. MoT makes $7.1m. This one ain't happening unless the Blazers take on Rice. Fat chance.

I would take this deal over Odom and picks. At least this trade gives us an established post player. What 3 guard line-up would you rather see, Mooch, Cat and Francis or Francis, Cat and Wells? If you don't want Wells use him for a trade.

I don't know what Wells contract situation is but I dont think this would work under the cba. I don't think the Blazers would do this even if it would.

Awesome deal...Sheed is an amazing talent who solves our rebounding problems and gives us a low post scorer. Not to mention the Awesome defense with three good shotblockers. I love this deal. Sheed has been working hard to control his temper and he may be maturing enough to be great for the Rox.

He is only 27 years old and just coming into his prime! Don't get your hopes up because like someone else pointed out earlier, It would take another contract from us to make it work.

Bonzi Wells is a free agent, right? So, how is this any different than trading for Kandi? He can't be traded until August. Also, if he's signed and traded, he'll become a BYC player, so you'll also need to get a team with cap space involved.

Man, having the #1 pick is awesome. you can talk about trading for bad ass players like Sheed, KG, Odom etc. etc. Just awesome. Even the thought of trading for some of these players a month ago would have seemed unrealistic, dont u think?
And now, most of us are like: Odom, nah, Sheed, nah...Its just awesome how everythings changed!!
We have so many options its ridiculous!! I just want to sit back and enjoy the ride till next month!!! Good luck RT and CD

Tim Duncan is worthy of that pick, but not Rasheed Wallace. This guy went an entire game without shootin a ft against the lakers. He and Fancis along with Bonzi are the most T'ed up people in the league. Besides, never give a close opponet firepower.

maybe if we can get a 3-way goin' that would send bozi and the #15 for odom...

    houston trades #1, #15, moT
    houston recieves wallace, odom

    portland trades wallace, bonzi
    portland recieves #1 (williams), moT

    lac trades odom
    lac recieves bonzi, #15

it probobly doesnt work cap wise, or for that mater ego wise.

but hey as long as we are on the subject of rumored trades, right?

One good thing about this deal is that it signifigantly weakens the Portland Blazers, making it easier for the Rockets to get into the playoffs.

I still would not do it, though. Sheed is too crazy for my tastes.
