Is sad these NBA playoffs have been decided by the referees and the league but not the team and the players themselves. Just look at the Rockets and blazers series alone, Adelman complained about the referees, the next game, blazers' big men in foul trouble. Next game, Mcmillan whined, Blazers shot free throws like mania.... Why can't the referees call the game by the rule and let the players play? Basketball is a simple game why make it so complicated for fans to enjoy?
The ruling on Howard is completely fair. As others have mentioned, he probably should have been ejected, but I think Philly is probably less incensed with their situation than the Chicago Bulls are. Absolutely unacceptable play by Rondo. I understand the heat of the moment argument, but Rondo needs to be disciplined for that play. I really feel for Chicago. They've given it their all this series. I don't like Noah, but he's been playing hard. Thomas is fun to watch, as always. Salmons is a cool story. Gordon has been balling, and Rose is really exciting to watch. If I were a Chicago fan, I would be outraged. Miller could have gone up a bit stronger.
I just saw the play by rondo. Unbelievable he didn't get ejected. I mean he just went for the head, the ball wasn't even close. He could have really hurt Miller.
The more I think about that whole play, the more pissed I am about it. And seeing that picture of that damn idiot Garnett screaming at Ben Gordon doesn't help me get over my anger. I don't like saying this because I would not advocate someone getting hurt, but I would love to see Brad Miller get some type of retribution on Rondo and I would also love to see the Bulls win this series.
Um I would chose D'Howard over Yao any day of the week. And last time I remebered there was a center who was known for throwing elbows in the league.. Oh yeah Deke the guy we love. Obviously he did it in a more discrete way but he still was able to knock down a few guys in his time... Dwight Howard > Yao Ming a no brainer. We wouldn't be having the issues we are having now if you switched the two. Of course it's a fantasy but I'm just saying.
Even Barkley said Stu Jackson made a mistake not suspending Rondo and upgrading the foul. Everybody @ TNT agreed he did not make a play for the ball so again it shows how the Celtics are being babied and the NBA is rigged.
It is pretty amazing that professional athletes, who know they are being watched at every angle, still show their frustration and lack of dignity so blatant like Howard did.
The League didn't want to upgrade the foul simply because it doesn't want fans to say the refs had screwed another game. What Stu Jackson said is totally BS: So, anyone make a full swing at the ball direction with a FIST, no matter how far he can't reach the ball, no matter where he hits the opponent, is making a basketball play!!!??? I call it BS.
Exactly. If you watch the replay and slow it down, it is obvious that Rondo had no chance of getting there in time to get his hand on the ball. All he had time for was to take a swipe at Miller. He even admitted this (pretty sure I read that somewhere). Stu Jackson is such a *****ing moron. I would love to have his job where it obviously pays to be an incompetent buffoon. He does this job about as well as the job he did in coaching the Grizzlies.
Ladies and Gentlemen, this is NBA. It's about stars, not any star, but those chosen ones. Rondo, the energetic shooting star from the defending champion. Howard, the athletic new definition of center from the so-called new contender. If it's Lowry and Hayes, they will be ejected and suspended for 3 games. If it's Andre Miller and Bargnani, they will both be ejected and suspended for 1 and 2 games, respectively. But it's Rondo, who's going after the ball; Howard, who's frustrated by the "physical" plays.
i sympathize with the magic slightly, dominant big men as yao and dwight are abused in the post by their defenders, that elbow was a frustration move on his part. nevertheless, it is unacceptable and i can't believe that magic fans are complaining about the suspension.
I did a google search on "Rajon Rondo and Brad Miller" and the first thing that came up was a youtube clip that actually showed not only the Rondo play but the Dwight Howard one as well. EDIT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TzGrzs7-AI
Anyone else catch Stan Van Gundy's post game press conference? He made it seem like the Sixers did the wrong thing by contacting the league. That guy has been really getting under my skin this season. Howard deserves to be suspended and I think the same goes for Rondo.
