Rafer has deficiencies, and Brooks has deficiencies. I personally think Brooks' weaknesses are more harmful and harder to hide than Rafer's shooting problems (and especially when the whole team is healthy). But either way, it's going to be extremely hard to win a championship with this level of deficient play from our PG. Next offseason is going to be critical for Morey to solve this problem by finally acquiring a veteran starting PG.
Guys like you are a disgrace to this board. Do you still think AB has equal passing and court vision skills to Rafer? Yes, Rafer is not a great shooter. But I stand by my original statement: Rafer with a bad shooting night > AB with a bad shooting night Rafer will always run the offense better than AB, game in and game out. The difference is if AB has a better shooting night than Rafer. Well, you see the results of a poor AB shooting night - AB in incapable of running the offense on a poor shooting night.
That's utter BS. Tonight proves it. Rafer always runs the offense better than AB. AB needs to be shooting better to be more effective than Rafer. While Rafer isn't as good as a shooter, Rafer always runs the offense better than AB.
Well, it was an issue tonight. What happened at the 6:40 mark in the 4th quarter when Yao sealed off his man and AB simply didn't pass to Yao ... wow ... that is a summary of AB's passing to Yao the entire series.
YOU NEED TO BE ROOKIFIED FOR YOU IGNORANCE. Who was running the offense tonight when AB was having a bad shooting night? Why didn't AB pass the ball to Yao at the 6:40 mark of the 4th quarter when Yao sealed his man? I said AB on average is a better shooter than Rafer, but if AB is not shooting well, Rafer is by far the better PG because Rafer runs the offense better. Some of you people are shameful, shameful, shameful.
Maybe you need to look at how Brooks repeatedly ignored Yao tonight but that's probably asking too much of you. Yes let's go back to the regular season even though Brooks almost cost us game 4 and defintely DID cost us game 5. You certainly are impartial...yep.
Hei, No one says Rafer is a perfect PG, better than Nash,CP3...etc. But Rafer is better than AB,especially on PASSing balls to YAO. Yeah, you can say Rafer dont work well in Magic and feeding to Howard, But he's good at feeding to YAO. Artest can assist YAO, battier too, so ,why AB cant ??He's starting PG!!!!!
Aaron does not take a stupid shot EVERY time he shoots. I want aaron taking open shots, he needs to. Rafer took more ill-advised shots than I have ever seen an nba player take. And his vision was not what you make it out to be. He consistantly has some of the lowest assist numbers for any starting pg in the league for years.
What was AB doing last night then? BTW, this thread isn't even criticizing AB's shot selection. It's criticizing his inablity to run the offense, which Rafer did better. Hear me out - shot selection and shot % aside, AB does not run the offense well as a PG. Go back to the 6:40 mark of the 4th quarter and look at how AB does not pass the ball to Yao after Yao had his man sealed off!
Apples and Oranges. I don't ever recall Rafer consistently getting the ball to Yao in a game where the opposition was so determined in their gameplan, and committed so many players on the floor to denying Yao the ball as the Blazers.
Go back to the 6:40 mark of the 4th quarter last night when AB didn't pass the ball to Yao after Yao had his man sealed off. There is no way Rafer wouldn't make that pass to Yao. Rafer consistently made the pass to Yao if Yao had his man sealed off. I'm not blaming AB for not passing to Yao when Yao isn't in good position. I'm blaming AB for not passing to Yao when Yao has sealed off his man. Please explain to me the 6:40 mark of the 4th quarter last night. That was BS by AB. Neither Battier, nor Rafer, would have ignored Yao with position like that.
The assist number is obviously distorted because RA was playing with TMac, who handled most of Rockets' offense in the playoff. Also after two more games played, the fg% differential won't be that significant (gosh, I don't even need to compute it).
what exactly is running the offense? He never got assists, he couldn't shoot well, he took a ton of shots. What exactly did he do that was so helpful. Until this season, his job was to run the ball the mid-court and hand the ball to tmac. With Brooks in there, the defense has to defend the 3 and the drive to the basket. With Rafer, they did not have to defend anyone. That puts an extra defender on Yao or someone else, making the offense less efficient. I realize why I don;t come in here much anymore, too many idiots.
He was one of the players that would look to pass to Yao. He wouldnt hesitate as much as Battier and others. With brooks they dont have to double Yao with his man because he wont pass to him... With Rafer they know he is trying to go to Yao. If you think our offense right now is more efficient then your crazy. Yao is one of the most efficient offensive players in the league. The problem is our own team takes him out of games. Your love for Brooks is blinding you. Yao is our best player so it is common sense to focus the offense around him.
