No, we never have been a great team (well not for many many years) and we won't be if we go through. In the case of a game 6 win I can only seeing it happening if the blazers do a collective "artest" and hand us the game on a silver platter. Of course, their players, while young, aren't quite so stupid. Game 7 and Choke City (reprise) awaits. I say clear them ALL out in the summer. Ok Maybe keep Scola and Battier as role players. The rest (especially Yao) are free to leave.
Tell that to TMac who made a legendary victory speech to the camera after his Magic team got up 3-1 on Detroit.
It's really hard to say. This game was really Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde for the Rockets, I thought. But to answer your question, I think we need to consider how we played in Game 2 and tonight and subsequently throw out Game 1 (obviously an outlier). If we're only considering those two games and our performance I think we'd be really hard pressed to win. Blazers are extremely strong on their homecourt and tonight in particular when we had a spurt we got shut down by either poor play on our part or momentum killers by the referees (not that they did a horrid job tonight or anything). In both games Aldridge and Roy had MONSTROUS nights, and it's when those two are on their A game I just don't see us winning. Of course the Yao getting fronted issue has been beaten to death but tonight in particular it seemed like our offense really got absolutely nowhere even when Yao didn't get touches, whereas on the other nights someone stepped up to take some scoring load. So I really think it depends on what sort of adjustments we can make. It's not like it's impossible to win at their place, but if we played like we did tonight, then obviously we stand no chance.
Yes I think we will beat Portland if it goes 7. I'm confident in this team. Why? I don't know why exactly if it does end up going 7.
I definitely think the Rockets can win a game 7 but I don't see why they would when they would have just lost game 6 on their court. I agree, game 6 is a must win.
Yao, Artest, Scola and Battier all have the mental toughness for game 7. But Yao is too easy to take out of the game by fronting defense, Artest is so unreliable that he can go nuts any seconds, Scola and Battier are just not good enough to carry the team.... so it just not looking good for the rockets to go to game 7. Everyone said the Blazers are young and inexperience but it is the rockets floor general Aaron Brooks acts like a virgin on the court rather than on the floor!
If AB and Ron continued their stupid plays and Coach Adelman again failed to replace them, Rox would lose Game 6. A Game-7 wipe-out by the Blazers is likely to follow. I certainly don't wish this to happen, Coach Adelman, exercise your authority. That's your job. Bench those 2 players once they displayed stupidity on the court in Game 6. You have Von, Kyle and Brent to replace them.
