I agree with you on this. To be honest, AB's 3 pointer is a nice weapon Rockets have at this moment, and he does have the balls to take and make his shots when the game is on the line. He's still an asset, expecially if he can come off bench and do his things.

Lowry is better than AB in terms of PG skills, but it was also kinda obvious he hasn't develop the chemistry with other starters yet, we see more miscues from Lowry than from AB.

That being said, AB can't be the future of Rox, he's no Tony Parker. Rox need to upgrade PG position if they want to win a championship in the near future.

I would have agreed with this statement 4 months ago but no longer. I see no reason why Lowry couldn't be the PG on a championship team. The only weakness I see in his game is his 3-point shooting and he will improve in that area. Lowry draws fouls and gets to the line as well as any PG in the entire league. He defends as well as any PG in the league. He sees the floor well and can run an offense. Sure, there are better PGs than him but I no longer consider the PG to be a position of weakness. Brooks could eventually be a nice scoring spark off the bench, esp. with the experience he is getting this year as a starter.

In my opinion, the biggest need by far is a dominant scoring wing to replace what McGrady used to give us. Even if McGrady makes it back next season, his career is on the downside. We need our version of Kobe, Wade, Pierce, Roy, etc... Those are the guys that make things happen late in games. You can put the ball in their hands and they can score or set up teammates, effectively being a PG in those situations.

Artest is a SF filling in at the 2. I know he's played SG at points in his career but he doesn't have the offensive talent to carry you at that position. I'd rather have him and Battier as our 1-and-2 at the SF spot.

Wafer is nice but right now, he is more of a JR Smith type that can be a scoring spark off the bench. It's not impossible that Wafer becomes that stud starting 2-guard we need but he needs to prove he can do that as a starter. So far, he has been a pleasant surprise off the bench.

All this talk of Aaron Brooks becoming the next Tony Parker is absolutely rubbish...apart from my both being supposedly "POINT GUARDS"...what else do they have in common???????? size?? 3 point shooting?? finishing??? or assisting???

Before you homers get started about how such and such Aaron Brooks IS the next Tony Parker or not...I'd like to state that Kyle Lowry is a much better comparison and has much more potential than Aaron Brooks...

---both are relentless drivers to the basket

    ---both can finish very well

---both are inadept 3 point shooters

---both have great court vision and passing skills

aaron brooks on the other hand???!!! is much more one dimensional. Apart from creating his own shot either being a 3 pointer or a chucked up "layup"(if thats what you call it)...he does not exhibit the physical tools or the skillset to be anything like Tony Parker...

Kyle Lowry, technically being a 3rd year player...was out for almost all of his rookie season with injuries...so this is more like his 2nd season in the league...he had been outplaying mike conley, a top 5 draft pick in memphis before he came here...which shows something does it??? he can drive, is an elite defender already, dishes out brilliant passes, only downside is he is incapable of shooting 3's consistently...but since when did Tony Parker shoot 3's consistently???

Somewhere in my mind I wish Kyle Lowry will never develop a 3 point shot...if they do they are likely to rely on it too much and chuck up more 3 pointers which means he'll be doing less what he does best...driving to the basket and either finishing or kicking out......

Aaron Brooks to the bench sounds much better...he probably won't even be as good as Bobby Jackson...so 7th man sounds much better for him...

Brooks is trash, why do you have a midget shoot first PG starting with Yao?

he is a young dude. he still has to get over some consistency issues. but he definitely contributes to the team overall. may not be the case in this game tho.

I would still like to have him over alston at least.

I wasn't going to blame Yao's lack of touches and our utterly stagnant wrinkly offense on Aaron Brooks...but now I am...tinman if u still wanna bring ur r****ded arguments up forth as before wanna come out and argue with me I'm fine with that. I wasn't putting the blame of poor passing and offense-running inabilities on Brooks...but now I am...so what??? do u have anything to say now?? huh?? Tivo it? no thanks I don't think I need to tivo every single minute to determine this.......just because you haven't watched rafer alston doesn't mean you would never know he cant shoot...I am ready for all challenges I may bring on by this statement...

and I can see I'll have plenty of support...in fact probably way more than plenty...as evidenced by the above 5, no 6, no wait...7! posts...

    lowry for starting PG!

    This thread is classic.

    Brooks contributed, again.

this small $1M PG has stepped up his game significantly in the playoffs.

I've been an Aaron hater down the stretch but he performed like a champ against the Lakers in game 1 and properly exploited his matchup with derek fisher. He only made two dumb plays last night if I recall correctly. If he sustains this level of play the Rockets are a very dangerous team.

I am consistently amazed by people who underrate Brooks and overrate guys like Alston. They keep coming up with excuses on why Brooks's impact didn't contribute to winning a game.

It's like the boy who cried wolf, but it's fans who cry "Brooks Sucks". Brooks just keeps contributing and the Rockets keep winning.
