Good read, thanks. Fast and flexible, very nice but his defense seems average. Next up Texans with our last pick.
I'm going to laugh my ass off if after rounds and rounds of screaming for Jennings, he doesn't get drafted at all by anyone.
Former junior college transfer who had an outstanding two years in a Sun Devil uniform...started all 25 games in the last two seasons...served as a team captain in 2008...recorded 128 tackles (81 solo), 13 pass break-ups and 10 interceptions over his two-year career...scored five touchdowns on defense, with four interception returns and one fumble return...tied the single-season school record with two interception returns for a touchdown in both 2007 and 2008...had six interceptions in 2007, the most by a Sun Devil since Nathan LaDuke also had six in 1989...was named Second-Team All-Pac-10 each of the past two seasons...joined the team during the spring of 2006, but missed the entire 2006 season due to injury...a junior college teammate of former Sun Devils Justin Tryon and Jonathan Johnson. http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/nolan_troy00.html Not a bad pick but we still should've gone with a RB or a DT Hopefully we find a good one in UFA... Ian Johnson, PJ Hill or Rashad Jennings
Considering that our secondary was dire last season, I don't see a problem with these last two picks. One of them could pan out into a good player, but we should at least get a competent nickel guy out of it
Now to start talking about the undrafted free agents. I'm hoping for Brian Johnson, Utah Quarterback. He's from Baytown.
There could be a nice little crop of undrafted RB FAs to choose from. Here's my 2-cents on the draft. 1. Brian Cushing (OLB) - Good pick, high energy player with good athleticism, fills a pretty big need. 2. Connor Barwin (DE) - Good value, like Cushing, he's a high energy player with great athleticism. Will give depth at DE, maybe play DE on 3rd down letting Smith move inside. 3. Antoine Caldwell (C) - Don't know too much about Caldwell but he has decent size and was a 3 year starter in the SEC. 4. Glover Quin (CB) - Never heard of the guy, 4.5 speed, 38 inch vertical. 4. Anthony Hill (TE) - Probably the best blocking TE in the draft, seems like our replacement to Breuner. 5. James Casey (TE) - Very versatile player, will contribute right away either as a backup to OD or on special teams. I like Casey and he's great value but taking a TE in back to back rounds is questionable to me. 6. Brice McCain (CB) - I know nothing about McCain but he's a smaller CB with a ton of speed. Smith said he likes drafting CBs so not that suprising he went with a speed guy. 7. Troy Nolan (S) - Like McCain, I don't know anything about his guy. Really seems like we could have drafted a RB or DT. Guys I wanted but passed on: Rashad Johnson, Roy Miller, Andre Brown, Terrance Taylor, Quan Cosby.
I love the Jaguars draft, they did really well. With their issues on the line last season, they got back to what made them an elite team in 2007. Drafting Monroe and Britton will help bring that line back to where it was 2 seasons ago. They still haven't been able to find a WR worth beans since the days of Jimmy Smith and McCardell, but Jarrett Dillard and Mike Thomas are both guys who can contribute. Dillard is a possession receiver who runs crisp routes and Thomas is a speedster who can excel in the slot against single coverage. Adding Rashad Jennings with one of the last picks in the draft only makes their draft that much better.
So what are they going to do about a bruiser for Slaton? I thought they would draft a RB at some point....
