One of AB's strongest trait is his shooting. When he gets on a roll, he is a big bonus to our team. However: Rafer with a bad shooting night > AB with a bad shooting night Rafer simply has better court vision and passing skills than AB. There is no doubt Yao would have had more shots in game 2 and 3 if Rafer will still our starting PG. Either AB learns better court vision and passing skills, or we need to find another starting PG in the long run. It would be a huge waste to resign Yao but keep AB as the starting PG. Somehow, I don't think you can teach AB better court vision and passing by now - he either has it by now or he doesn't. We can still play AB in another position, but as the starting PG, our offense suffers alot if AB isn't shooting well because he doesn't have great passing skills to make up for his poor shooting.
How so? Please expound on that. What would Rafer have done yesterday to get Yao more looks in the post?
I didn't. What did he say that makes you think Rafer would do a better job? Did he say Rafer was a good post entry passer? Because I can tell, from years of watching him play, he was not.
Not swing the ball away to the other side of the court when Yao was calling for it and had his man sealed, for one. This happened several times. I've never seen Yao call for the ball like he did yesterday but Aaron Brooks inexplicably decided that HE was the max player and swung the ball away.
Yeah, that never happened before the trade. The Rockets offense is to get the ball moving from side to side when there isn't a good angle for the entry pass. Yao can call for the ball, but the passer needs to judge whether he has control over his space, where his defender is positioned, where the help is positioned, where the pass would need to be delivered, what is the likelihood of a turnover, and then decide who to get the ball to. It's not just a matter of, "Oh, Yao is calling for the ball? Throw it in there!" I missed all the instances where Yao had his man sealed, and the Rockets looked away from him when they should have thrown it in. Maybe it happened a couple times. How many times would you say that happened?
Funny, I remember people saying only Tracy knew how to pass the ball to Yao, and that Rafer needed to be replaced due to that and his inconsistency.
How did Yao get all his shots in the Utah series when all Utah did was front Yao? Granted, Yao didn't play well in that series, but he got the ball in hands against constant fronting by Utah.
This thread is garbage and you should be demoted for being such an ignoramus. Rafer Alston Playoff Stats Games Played : 3 Minutes per Game : 31.2 PPG: 14.3 FG % : 42.1 3P % : 36.4 APG: 3.3 AST/TO Ratio : 3.3 Team Record 1-2 Aaron Brooks Playoff Stats Games Played : 3 Minutes Per Game : 32.2 PPG: 20.3 FG % : 55.0 3P % : 60.0 APG : 5.6 AST/TO Ratio : 3.4 Team Record 2-1 Don't even make me mention how ****ing amazing Kyle Lowry has been.
Utah was not applying a constant front on Yao. Okur played behind him most of the time, and the Jazz didn't double much either from what I can remember. At least it wasn't a hard double team. And, we're talking about 2 seasons ago, with Tracy McGrady on the floor. Portland's defense would not work nearly as well with an offensive weapon like Tracy McGrady (06/07 version) also on the court.
Which part of this don't you understand: Rafer with a bad shooting night > AB with a bad shooting night Maybe you have poor English comprehension skills. AB is great when he is hitting his shots, but I will repeat it over and over: Rafer with a bad shooting night > AB with a bad shooting night
Maybe you don't understand that Rafer sucks, Brooks is stepping his game up big time in the playoffs and Kyle Lowry is awesome. You are the one who is a flaming ignoramus. My God. I am so mother****ing sick of the rampant Aaron Brooks hate in this place. I'm about to seriously print this thread out and wipe my ass with it later tonight after I finish off a couple bowls of chili. Do us a favor and don't bring this weak garbage back here ever again.
In a game, the chances of RA having an awful shooting night: 80% The chances of AB having an awful shooting night: 30% So what if Alston has more poise/exp/whatever it is he's supposed to bring to the table? He can't shoot himself in the foot (he can stab someone though lol)! Whatever officiency gains he has is negated by all the shot attempts he bricks, all of which are essentially turnovers for his team if his opponents get the defensive rebound. Even if Ab has a horrible shooting night, teams still won't leave him unguarded and double team someone else, something that opponents do regularly when Alston was here. AB also has his quickness going for him, and can at least attack the basket when his shot isn't falling in. RA can penetrate really well because of his mad handling skillz but only has his godawful teardrop to lean on when his 3 pts aren't falling. RA is nothing more than an overpriced backup pg, and seeing their record I don't think the Magic are going to disagree with me. This is an awful thread, and you deserve to get rookified for your ignorance.
Learn how to post a thread that isn't going to be sitting in my septic tank with corn chunks in it by 10 PM tonight. kthxbye.
Then you need to watch the post game interview with Adelman because Adelman was quite clear on this issue.
umm which part don't you undersatnd???? the stats are right in front of you buddy 55.0%/60% >>>>>> 42.1%/36.4% again, why the bickering??? i can understand if we are 1-2 but jesus......
