I' ve seen enough. I dont want to get into the starting AB or KL debate, or how to beat a fronting yao seminina since there are millions posts of that. We cant use a 15mil allstar center as a decoy in playoff times, and we cant turn AB into a pg who 's able to pass Yao in a consistent base either. So we have to either bench AB, or trade Yao since benching Yao is not logical. what do you think?
No. Yao is being constantly double-teamed and fronted. While we could improve our passing, it is actually very difficult to get the ball to him in that situation without turning it over. The best way for the Rockets to beat that defense is with aggressive offense from the other players to make the Blazers pay for their distorted spacing. Brooks is a guy who can exploit a seam to get a good shot -- which is crucial to beating the fronting defense.
he was not constantly double-teamed last night. i've read this at least 3x this morning. it's not true. oden alone shut yao down for a signficant stretch of the night all by his lonesome. then he went out and pryzbilla came back in. they tag-teamed it...but he wasn't doubled. at best, a guard would sag down to be near yao if he were trying to get an entry pass. every halfway-decent center in the history of the league has had to deal with that.
it's time for Yao to re-develop his mid range jumper in the off season. with his height and moves, i doubt he'll lose his post game. if he gets an accurate mid ranger jumper, then he doesn't have to waste energy to battle the fronting. just use PNR with the PG and shoot all day. as long as he diversifies his game, he can choose how to beat the defense, either post up or jumpers. of course if helps with a healthy Tmac to run PNR with him.
LOL i was wondering what oaf meant. there is a place in my town called 'Lazy Oaf Lounge'. maybe Yao opened it.
Yao Ming is terrible at getting position. Absolutely terrible He is a guy with refined offensive skills but he does not position like "a big man" Yes AB should be better at getting Yao the ball, but cmon its on Ming to be an effective target. Nothing illustrates more at how weak Yao is at getting position than when Brandon Roy got that offensive rebound tip in late in the game. Ming should have easy inside position defensively on a play like that but he gets outjumped by a guard. The guy is also very slow to the ball when they try passing at angles. Face it, if a team wants to nullify Ming all they have to do is front him. Period.
Twice the Rockets tried to get him the ball, and they passed it away from the side the defender was positioned so that they wouldn't be able to intercept it. And Yao wasn't quick enough to go get it. I think it was Brooks on one play, and Battier on another. Correction: it was Lowry and Battier.
i know man we are going to get swept at this rate down 0-3 already because of Yao and Brooks not being able to play with each other. oh wait we're up 2-1? with homecourt advantage? really? seriously some of you guys need to just forget about Yao getting his stats and worry about the Rockets winning the game. Portland is specifically targeting their defense to stop Yao from getting touches, in order to win a game you need to make the defense pay for their mistakes. Last night thats what Carl and Scola did with the fronting on Yao. For you Yao fans Yao did step up and played really well on defense last night and got 13 boards and 3 blocks, things he can control... he stepped up and played big on that side of the court. I am not worrying really Yao will have another good scoring output before this series is over
yeah, let's do it. directly bring rox to lotto, then rox have better chance to get some good picks. rox will be the next thunder. When other teams don't need to worry about yao, the rest of the team will be contained and destroyed completely.
