I know, I know, we got the first. Don't get me wrong, I love being in the catbird seat because of trade possibilities; I do wish in a way that someone else got the #1 and they would have to sweat over the Ming/Jay dilemma. I think if we had landed the #2 pick, 3/4 of us would be whining about "Dunleavy would be a wasted pick this high...."
It seems most teams in the lottery would probably take Williams over Ming if they had the #1 pick so the Rockets would just draft Ming at #2.
Who cares what the Chineese Govt. wants? Not me. I said this before in a different thread but... I think the best thing that could happen to the rockets is if negotiations with the Chineese Govt. fell apart and Francis decided he, JWill and Cat could coexist in the locker room and on the court.
I wish we did have the number 2, so we wouldn't get Ming. Anyway, the Rockets would probably pick Dunleavy, but I would hope they would pick Butler.
we would have to take ming #2. if we had the 3rd then there would be a problem of who to draft, dunleavy or butler?
Wouldn't it be nice if we could pull off this scenario: Houston trades #1 (Ming) to Chicago for #2 and Marcus Fizer. Houston trades #2 (Williams) to Warriors for #3 and Troy Murphy. Houston drafts Dunleavy with #3. Houston trades Fizer to Cleveland for Diop or N.Y. for #7. Of course, this scenario would touch off huge debates. Right now there are the Pro-Ming and Anti-Ming camps. That would switch to a Dunleavy vs. Butler battlefield. Isn't off the wall speculation fun?
Horrible for trading No. 1 or horrible by the added players picked up? How would you do it (and I'm assuming a Ming trade, to which I am opposed as constantly posted in days past).
