It was a lot less random and called much better than game 2, but it was still tilted a little bit towards us. Aside from one, maybe two questionable calls on Yao, this game was called in our favor. At least from my point of view. Or am I so used to us getting screwed that a fairly officiated game seems biased towards the Rockets in comparison?
Well we were fouled 25 times, 19-24 from the line, whereas portland was fouled 16 times, 9-10 from the line. Some of the disparity is just Oden being a dummy, but I do think this game went in our favor.
Well, I think the officaating was called in our favor obviously except Yao. The league wont let an asian player dominate every game for sure. But the Rox won, so who cares about how Yao was called. People will forget it soon until we lose.
I thought Oden's 4th foul was a bad call. I didnt see him do anything to Yao that they dont do every other play(and often times much worse that isnt called). Of course, Yao's 2nd foul call was a bad one, then when he gets a semi-legit 3rd foul call he has to go sit down because of the BS foul he got whistled for just a play earlier. For the most part they let them play, unless you drove into a moving player. If the player was set, they usually let the contact slide unless it was major. But moving defender almost always got called for the foul. So it was fairly consistent aside from a couple of calls. Not a bad ratio if you ask me.
i swear yao gets fouled almost every single time he's fighting for post position and they hardly call the foul.. i think they called it once tonight in the second half
STFU......... they called it fairly. How can they be more toward us when the other team do foul that was clearly a foul...I'm sick of all these dam people complaining about the refs and now talking that they favoring us this makes us look like crap....I guess Utah FTW then
well we shot quite a few ft's at the end since they were fouling us to shoot ft's. It's not as skewed as it seems
I bleed Rocket red just like the next guy, but (homers, earmuffs for a second) the game was called pretty lopsided in our favor.
The game was in our favor, but I would feel gypped if it WASN'T in our favor. After Portland's home-cooking in Game 2, we still have quite a bit of ground to make up in Game 4 before it can even be called even. Playoff basketball entails favoritism on your court. That's why we had to blow them out in Game 1, and that's why it's reasonable for us to expect the referees to call stuff in our favor in games 3 and 4 and 6. Portland has more home games than us. If they aren't able to pull it out in 7 with that kind of advantage then you really know we earned it.
As i said before, homecourt advantage is actually referee advantage. That's why i am surprised that the Portland able to front Yao that much. I thought they were able to do this at their homecourt because they can be aggressive and get away with it. So i am surprised that they were able to continue to do that to Yao even at Toyota Center. At the same time, they were sandwiching Yao so there is nothing you can do. I think the Rockets should let Yao shoot run plays to get Yao shoot those 15feet jumper. HE can get that all day long and he will made them. The problem is they're running those plays often for him. But of course they want Yao inside to get offensive rebound.
I'd love to know it was "lopsided in our favor" when there was just a 9 foul differential, and about 4 to 6 of them came at the end with Portland trailing and needing to stop the clock. Heck, Yao got his 3rd foul at a crucial point of the game where Portland should have taken over the game.
Protect your star or you lose him Yao has refused to re-sign with the rockets TWICE! If you think it is not a WARNING, you’re risking losing him next year. He is not young anymore, he said he want success, and maybe fame as well. Yet in the games, he got punished by refs, by opponent teams. He got wrapped, wrestled, grabbed, and all kinds of illegal defenses. If he initiated the contact a little hard, or raised his elbow a little higher (naturally since he is high), that’s an automatic foul! He stands there still, any no-name guy just bumps into him intentionally, and that’s a foul on him! You hate Cuban, yet he won’t let these to happen on his star players, even role players. Stand up NOW, to support your star! Collect some clips, send some complaints, to the newspaper and TV and media, to all depts of NBA and stern. If you got fined, that’s perfectly fine. He has done anything he could to help the organization, now it is the organization’s turn to do something for him. If you don’t stand up for your star, he will find another organization that will. Warning signs have been there, do something NOW, or just keep some of your pennies and lose your biggest treasure.
