i wanted to point this out about AB: He often gets called out due to mistakes he makes, bad decisions mostly, mental mistakes. I think it has mostly to do with him being a second year player, which i know is obvious (duh), but for example: adelman said in the post game interview he didnt agree with Brooks backing off blake when he fired one of the two threes at the end.....but brooks didnt look like he backed up because he decided to, it's like that was the plan, kind of like when a team is up 4 with like 5 seconds left and everyone says let him take the 3, dont risk fouling him.... well he obviously didnt get his instructions from Rick...i think it came from the players, seeing them interact during on court huddles, aaron often checks with the vets on certain things, i guess to make sure he's doing the right thing, so i think someone told him that in the huddle. Does that make it right? Well, not really, but the point is its important to remember his mistakes often come from him not wanting to mess up and thinking taking directions from the vets is the best thing to do. With time he'll learn how to make his own decisions, but don't just label the guy as a dumbbass who'll never learn and is a lost cause. He's in his THIRD year, a guy who probably would have gone in the second round had houston not been targeting him, so think about that. Everyone expects immediate leadership/greatness because he's a first rounder, but he's really not. Now that doesnt mean he wasnt worth the pick, but being really second round material (at the time), that means he needs some more time to reach his potential. So quit complaining about him!!! He's done a solid job so far and the best is yet to come, SOON.
Nice to have this win..My heart beat goes up in the final minute..thanks God we keep it rolling..Go Rockets
He's certainly going to improve as a young kid. But for young players, coach has to coach more, give more directions, and set up plays more. Young PGs sometimes hesitate too much to give orders as floor generals, and their decision making is very questionable especially under pressure. JVG said that Lowry should play as extra defender to strip the ball from Wafer, and AB could be very rich if he's paid by dribbling. 6.8 seconds left at the 3rd (or half time?), AB let Ron get the ball and almost walked up the court, then traveled without putting up a shot. The last 3 possessions before the FT and 3 points exchange, AB dribbled 20 seconds for 3 consecutive possessions, put up a prayer against Aldridge and another one against Oden, finally Scola came to rescue. Those 3 possessions could cost us the game. In situations like that, I don't know what Rick did. The first 20 seconds dribbling came right out of the timeout. Either Rick didn't draw a play just let AB run, which is very bad; or he drew one without alternatives, AB didn't know what to do when the first option was shut, which is equally bad; or Rick drew one, but AB totally ignored his instructions, which is worse. RA needs smart players, but JVG does the best preparation. I think young guards need more guidelines, especially in playoffs.
it was crazy, tracy was in front of us the whole time on the way to toyota center in his rolls royce..
There's like a million Brooks thread's, if people are blaming now THAT WE WON, imagine how it's going to be when we lose. He was my MVP along with Scola.
Most enjoyable moments of tonights game 1. The Win 2. The Intro 3. Wafers 2nd dunk 4. Battiers clutch 3
I was there! chanting "PORTLAND SUX!" ah the crowd was outstanding. the intro is way better in the arena! refs still suck, and the pre-party was pretty cool!. I lost my voice from yelling so much. but its was amazing. the dunk was sweet by von on the 2nd try. im going to purchase tickets against LA.
Oh and I hope TMAC wasn't there....when his highlights we on, you can hear the boos and no cheers. awkward....lmao
mvp as most vulnerable player? yes, i agree. i said it before the series started that the rockets will go as far as ab takes us (not anyone else), since he's the weakest link of the team.
I think it's safe to say Brooks is good enough to play a major role. I like Lowry also but he'll have a hard time to fight for a starting role. I'm really happy that Brooks and Lowry are both better than Rafer. Scola is classic. I haven't seen a PF got that smooth offensive game.
