wafer's role is to score, score, and then score. he had 2 or 3 bad possessions in the 2nd half, but overall he did his job, and well. his (and landry's)scoring in the 2nd qtr was the big reason why we had the lead at the half and were able to get a little cushion.
Roy WAS NOT getting his shots, just because he had some shots doesnt mean it what he wanted. He got some open ones and missed them, but there were tons more he REALLY wanted to take and couldnt because of the team D. Those stupid fouls yao picked up werent his fault. You cant compared doubling a guy int he post WHERE HE HAS TO STAY IN THAT POSITION to doubling a perimeter player WHO CAN RUN AROUND. Not the same thing, doesnt make sense to compare it. I wouldnt be surprised if Yao was still taken out next game and yet we still won, the rockets are up 2-1, why would Adelman HAVE to figure it out in 24 hrs? We're not up against the wall here.... ...confidence? What confidence? they gave us their best punches in game 2 and we stuck it out 12 rounds. This game it wetn to 12 rounds again, but we didnt throw out best punches to them. If anything they are frustrated because they play yao straight and they lose, they front him, and still lose...
had blake's second 3 ball gone in, he'd be nick anderson version 2. what are you talking about? we won. no one is complaining. scapegoat? ab played ok, but it is not true that he saved us a game.
ROX shouldnt be that close..and the course of game tell me that they still have no idea of fronting problems...Yao completely lost him rhythm ... anyway,2-1 ~
Way too close for comfort. Can Scola be trusted with that shot? The series may rest on it. As a fan, you gotta' believe! But I honestly think Yao's been taken out on O. Their big men are BIG and athletic and of course they get away with MURDER all game. Yao doesn't have the stamina to battle that AND go chest-to-chest all night on D, too. I say, just use him as a decoy on O, let him play D, and have Cola shoot and Brooks drive all game long. The Blazers can be beat with that. Roye is dangerous, though. The Rox can't let it be that close with him on the court. Put them away EARLY!
why would i want something that does not exist anymore? i want a healthy, 30-year old akeem to twin tower with yao and counter their twin towels. can you gi'mme dat?
I agree man, everyone keeps saying that Roy got his shots and didn't make them. I disagree, Roy didn't get his shots, not the ones he wanted. Remember, Battier plays guys to spots on the floor where they are uncomfortable. Roy did miss some open shots, but remember game one he didn't have a good game either. Two times is not a fluke...same can be said for Yao being taken out of the game offensively. Time for us to just give credit to Oden and the Blazers for that but Artest, Battier and the rest of the team are doing a heck of a job on Roy. Roy isn't going to get his ticky tacky fadeaway fouls in Toyota Center, so I expect him to have at the most a average game. Maybe he gets 20 but on low FG%. If Roy was getting his shots he'd tear us up. You don't give superstar players their shots, just like if Yao was getting his shots he'd tear them up. Neither has been getting their shots. Yao had his game 1, and Roy game 2. That's it though, teams have adjusted both times now.
can anyone post the website for portland version of clutchfans does portland have a website like clutchfans
With those poeple who saying Yao is useless to Houston Rox,what a shame. If Yao was being useless to Rox,there wont be double team, wont be fronting, think Rox still can won the game? think Scola,Landry can get that many open shots? Can Rox still be in the playoffs? without Yao,Rox going nowhere. If Yao wasnt inportant to Rox,why so many team want to double him, front him. I am not Yao only fan, just sick of those pure haters.watch more games and think before you talk. Btw the plan for these games wasnt around Yao,if you only look at stats then you are right.get Yao out of Houston then we may have a chance to get championship. yeah, dream it,haters.
i think the problems come when he dribbles the ball up court. When he does his damage it's usually when he gets the ball when it's being swung around with the d rotating, he's able to then cut through the open spots in the D. However, when he dribbles the ball upcourt, the d is set and he tries to go at them then, they're not scrambling so they just block him and he gets stuck.
We got the win tonight, but didn't quite like how the Rockets played. I loved the aggressiveness that Scola, Landry, and Wafer played with that gave us a big lead early on... Then after that, the Rockets just let up... They stopped attacking on offense and being the enforcers on defense. That is what eased the Blazers back in the game. Also, I can't believe Yao gets fronted so easily. Oden had a very easy time defending Yao. Like Clyde said, have we ever seen a dominant big man struggle so much JUST to get the ball? Yao needs to toughen up, demand that ball, and take over the game.
true. the other thing is, this is a young and very very athletic team. wafer and landry may be the most athletic guys on our team, but they'd be just average on the blazers.
Yes, do you want to mention us Kobe get almost 20 (18) by 5-24? He is PG,he always can get about 20 by any number shots
One thing I would like to add - props to the fans at TC tonight. We've been complaining about the TC atmosphere whole season long, but first home game in the playoff, it was all red and super loud. They are all pumped up, so were our players. Keep it going!
