'What I would do now is Hack A Hayes!'

'What the Blazers should do now is try to spread the floor and shoot 3s!'

I also heard some of the old JVG!

'What is Yao Ming doing way over there!'

Because, you know, Nate McMillan is directing his gameplan based on the live ESPN feed he receives.

First off The Blazers aren't listening to him.

2nd off it was like 16 seconds left when he said it.

Unless they have bionic ears I don't think anyone on Blazers team can hear him over the roar of the crowd.

JVG mentioned one point about how Yao is being guarded by two players, one in the front and one in behind. He basically said Portland does not need to have a guy in behind. This is the reason why we've been able to attack from weak side and Scola/Landry has been able to make open shots. I think it is very likely that Portland will change defense to this in the next game. We better have a good way to counter this or else we will not get the easy shots that we got in this game.

Yea i like JVG, but tonight...i say "shut the f off JEFF VAN GUNDY"!! Telling Portland should do this and that.....and Mark Jackson needs to be quiet too. Telling Brandon Roy to be aggressive and taking quick shot.

when Roy fouled out and they made the substitution for Fernandez like JVG was suggesting, spacing the floor and shooting 3s, it quickly became a one point game.

To all those saying thats 'commentating', he sure as hell wasn't 'commentating' about the rockets like that.

    'should call time out here'
    'put fernandez back in'
    'shoot 3s'
'defense is good enough to win on the road' (beat rockets at home) 'but offense needs some adjusting'
'with yao ming having trouble getting the ball aaron brooks is the next player you need to worry about getting in the paint'
'dont run down and take a quick shot, run a pick and roll or something!'

i never heard him say once such thing about the rockets.

He was all but spelling it out for the Blazers how to beat the Rockets.

Do you understand he picked the Rockets to destroy the Blazers before the first game?

(I seriously can't believe I'm responding to this thread again... lol)

I think JVG respects RA and does a very good job of not undermining the new coach from the booth. Remember when the Rockets won 22 straight and everyone was gushing about them being a team with great chemistry defensively to make up the talent? His partner in the booth tossed him a soft ball and said along the lines of you must be glad to help the Rockets lay the foundation defensively, and JVG replied that RA actually got the Rockets to play better defense than he did.

I think he's trying really hard to reserve himself from saying anything that sounds like he's criticizing RA's coaching decision.

JVG is a good fit for the blazers. They should hire him next season.
