Can't wait to get into the game.

I was thinking, the Rockets should sign Deke to a 10-day contract next year, let him get into the first home game just so he can finish his career by walking off the court under his own power.

I think it'd be awesome. We signed Hakeem back so he could officially retire as a Rocket, but I think we should dress Deke and let his last playing memory be a standing o as he walked off, not a stretcher on the road.

He'd have to rehab, but he's going to do that anyway, I think with the time given he'll be well enough to do it. Of course he can't be jumping around trying to block another shot and risk injury again ;)

Might be a cheezy, but I think if done right, it can be a very classy gesture. But I know he'll be getting that award at game 3 and will be there getting a standing o. It's just a thought.

His contract ends after this season, even if he rehabs the Rockets will not resign him.

    So... No.

A'ight,he's hurt and I don't think he would consider that an option to walk off the court just fo' retirement.

Deke is too classy for a move like this. He knows it's over. The man is 75 years old and isn't going to do some publicity stunt to show everyone else that it's over.

My bad. I think I was thinking of just him coming back during that press conference to retire in Houston, not a signing. But it was a nice way to end things.

Yeah, like I said, I think Deke is more than a big enough guy to walk away and he has more to be happy about with his career and life beyond it, just thought it'd be a nice gesture.

But he'll be honored regardless, so everything works out.

I like it. I was at the game where Barkley did this. He rehabbed hard just so he could come back for one more game and score one basket and get one rebound. Once he'd done that, he walked off the court. Rudy, Hakeem and Charles all gave speeches after the game and it was beautiful.
