Sorry if this was covered in another thread, but I have to give props to the Portland fans at Game 2, when they gave a standing ovation for Deke when he was stretchered off the court.

They all perceived the situation that he was seriously injured, that that was the last time he would be seen on a basketball court in uniform, and therefore stood as one in recognition of one of the game's greats.

It's refreshing to see that despite the playoff atmosphere, and hostility to the opposition, that they could rise as one and send our Deke off in that manner is a great credit to them.

I would expect most arenas to do that even in the playoffs.

i think we're giving their fans too much credit, even the jazz fans would have done it under the same circumstances, just like all the other fans in the league. It's dikembe mutombo, not james white, no one hates deke. Not to mention how sad the whole thing was, anyone who knew who he was would have clapped for him, all it takes is a few good fans to start it and the rest will always follow, and you can find a good bunch in every city.

Jazz fans suck but I think they would. They gave standing ovation to Clyde Drexler at their arena in his last game as a Rocket, and he walking away on both of his legs.

Blazers fans are some of the best out there but i think we are giving them credit for something any arena would do.

The fans showed some respect, although rewatching the video, I actually didn't see much support or concern coming from the Blazers' bench when Deke was rolled by them.

i doubt most of them knew mutombo as the great man, and were simply being respectful as they noticed it was a serious injury, as they showed the crowd it was a bunch of middle aged white women and their families, they have no idea how great of a man/player deke was, but yah nonetheless they showed alot of class and it's just another reason to love portland after this series is over

That is the most disgusting thing I've ever seen. I hate Derek Fisher on the court by **** that's just messed up. But it just goes to show you The Jazz Fans are Punk b****es. And I'm glad they have never won anything, bunch of cheap shot, dirty players on that team.

It was classy of them to stand up and clap for Mutombo, but that is liable for any team crowd to do that and anyone who doesn't think that people should live wouldn't do it. It was really classless of them to boo on EVERY SINGLE CALL (I mean I understand it's homecourt and all, but the crowd as a whole boos on every single call even the most obvious ones) and also chanting "These Refs Suck."

I think every arena in the league would do the same thing.....except the j*zz fans.

Seriously, I'm not just trying to be funny or insulting. I really don't think they would.
