Thanks for punking Gary Payton, Shawn Kemp and company and giving the Rockets home court throughout the playoffs in 1994! <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/r38vZJUkBMA&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/r38vZJUkBMA&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
That was a defining moment in Rockets and NBA history. No one would ever guess back then that Deke would become so important to Houston's success 15 years later. I hope the rally down deep in the soul of our remaining squad will surface and lead us to the promised land! All for one, and one for all! For Dikembe!
this was when his legend really started! This is also kinda sad cause Deke is one of the last great players of the 90s in the league
This was back in the day of the 5 game series, right? I really enjoyed that format...it seemed to give the underdogs a fighting chance in the playoffs
this is why deke is one of my all time favorite players, let alone favorite rockets. all his charitable work aside for the moment... this directly affected the rockets drive to the championship. from a rockets basketball point of view only, that makes him a legend.
Tinman, I was tempted to give you a hard time since you have been so vocally opposed to posting highlights of current Rockets playing for other teams (ahem, T-Mac, ahem). HOWEVER...you made the excellent point that's Deke's career highlight played a huge part in the Rockets winning their first championship by knocking off the Sonics! Thank you Dikembe. You were a true Houston Rocket way back in 1994. Count my vote for retiring #55 for Dikembe! (Not to mention that Dikembe moved into second on the all-time blocks list as a member of the Rockets)
Unbelievable, one of the greatest moments in NBA history. Denver made a huge mistake in letting him go. We have been blessed to have Dikembe in Houston.
We should all play as Deke in any NBA game we have at hand right now in honor of him. Or get NBA Jam and make him do monster dunks.
