Don't give me crap about passing the ball to Yao or taking too many outside shots. We shot 50 percent for the game which is efficient enough to win. The problem is that we let 2 players light us up and the blazers shot 51.4% from the field. They also only had 5 turnovers. You can't let any team do that and expect to win unless you are the old Suns team.

We just didn't play rockets defense. Plain and simple.

The way I see it is that we played as good of D as we could have. Both Roy and Aldridge hit many tough contested jumpers. Roy is very good with PnR play so he is going to get his points, but I don't think he can hit tough jumpers through out the series at high percentage.

Considering that Yao did not get that many shots, I'm amazed that we were able to shoot fifty percent from the floor. We need to quickly have some solution to fronting so that we can get Yao at least 15 shot attempts.

What?? Most shots were heavily contested. Our defense was not the reason we lost tonight. We lost because of missed free throws, plain and simple. It was close enough for missed frees throws to matter.

I agree, we scored enough to win.

We have to figure out how to stop the pick n roll with Roy at the top of the key, he scores almost at will with that play.

But we still have to give Yao enough touches to be effective even if he is fronted.

The way the officials called the game, it's tough for us to play our defense normally. Too many touch fouls, it's like we were playing on egg shells. And when we already have an athleticism-deficit, that makes it hard to get stops.

From the post game, Adelman wasn't happy with our offensive execution. The Rockets make a lot of 3s down the stretch that perhaps inflated how good our offense really was.

the blazers also missed a lot of free throws. Shane Battier should be guarding Roy as much as possible. Put Artest on him every once in a while. We scored over 100 points, offense definitely wasn't the problem tonight.

FTs alone could have won us the game.

oh, I guess you are right.

But...i wonder if Artest and co didn't take that many shots and generously give Yao some chance to share their burden on the offensive end, could things be better?

Giving your best player only 6 shot attempts and count on ourside shooting, that's just dumb. Yes they got 50% of the shots fall, what about next game? If Artest and Brooks go for 33.333%, what do we do?

Whatever, with the way fouls are called, you only have yourself to blame if your offensive isn't as efficient or you don't go to the line as should be.

But shot more FT. Just by shooting the same percentage as Portland would have made the difference.

definitely yes, from the second half third quarter to the fourth quarter. we ever had 7 points lead at the third quarter. if we don't have offense problems, we should win.

this is not the right way to think after a loss.

our ft % as a team was north of 80%. had we shot our normal % or better, yes we'd probably have won. but what is the point? that they should practice 1,000 extra ft's in the next few days?

Offensively we didn't do too badly considering Yao's problems but there is no reason for letting Roy get 42 points. He is very good but they should have slowed him down inspite of the officiating.
The late 3 point shooting didn't cover up for our offensive problems though.

why is Artest guarding Roy 90% of the time? Coaches decision or Ron demanding it? Like you guys said Ron was getting burned in game one. That should have been a sign to let Battier take over. Adelman needs to bring some order in and tighten his control over the team.
