The thing is, no one ever follows through anyway. Today's players are such nancies compared to the guys in the 70's and 80's. Just all talk.

Another stellar quote, this one before game 2:

Devoting only one body to Duncan leaves the Mavericks an extra defender to throw in Tony Parker's way or to stay at home on the Spurs' 3-point shooters. The key is to make him work.

"By the fourth quarter, we just want to wear on him," Dampier said. "Maybe some of those bank shots will be short. Or long."

"People that really know the game know the things I do for this team. I don't have to prove anything to anybody."

Yeah, we know what you bring to the team, . . 6 fouls.

If I was Tony Parker, I'd be licking my chops. He'll be going to the line a lot.

This. You might as well put a 7 foot ladder in front of the rim.

I didn't. But neither did I expect to get criticized for it in every other thread either. Oh well...lets stick to the topic lol.

Erica says a lot of fabulous things that haven't panned out. We'll see this time.

If I had to pick a player in the league who looked the dumbest (ie barely knows how to read dumb), I'd pick Dampier.

Just looking at his face, he looks like an uneducated buffoon.

Why do so many members/rookies do this? Quoting themselves to correct a miss spell, or wrong word etc. Contribute to get editing privileges or just read your post before you click submit.

hell, there is even a preview button.

I hope people don't really contribute just so they can get the editing privilege.

If you have to resort to using physical punishment to intimidate, you are basically admitting that you are not as skilled as your opponent. Way to go, second best center in the league.

The bottom line is Dampier has really handicapped himself/his team in two significant ways:
    1. He basically announced his willingness/desire to commit a flagrant foul; and
    2. He's given Parker, whose not exactly opposed to flopping, every reason to drive the ball to the basket . . whether actually fouled or not, he's more likely to get the call.

The funniest part of the quote is this:

"Parker got into the teeth of our defense and caused problems," he said. "Every time he drives the lane, we have to put him on his back. The first foul has to tell him he;s in for a long night."

The "teeth" of the Dallas defense? He must be comparing the Mavs to a genetically altered human, because the last time I checked, teeth do not grow in one's vagina.

I'm usually the first to bring up how much Erick Dampier sucks and how terrible the mavs are at defending penetration but come on, you guys act like there's just a bunch Tony Parker stoppers around the league. How many people really stop him?

It's not like they can depend on their superstar big to do something on D...it pretty much falls on a stiff like Damp to lay him out.

How does he think is going to have his back? Dirk is a wuss, Stack is gone, Howard is a pothead.

Bruce Bowen will hold Dirks ankles hostege.

Heck, they can leave spelling and grammar errors as errors. I had to read the original post a couple of times to see what he was even correcting.
