I just sneaked into Portland's backyard so as to scoop something up for rockets. One of Portland reporters leaked out some of details from blazers' practice on Sunday. some interesting quotes is as follows: You guys can access to whole blazers Sunday Practice Report HERE gotta be a tough one for rockets! And what I wanna say is to bring them on Go Rockets!!!
Hopefully, their eagerness causes them to be reckless. Another solid win should be a dagger to this series.
The Blazers coming out and admitting that this game is a "must-win" is probably the best thing that could happen. It puts just as much, if not more pressure on them than they had in game 1, and we saw how they handled that. Now, that doesn't mean I think they'll get blown out again, or even lose. I just think it'd be best for them to approach it with the mindset that it's a long series and they're taking it one game at a time. Instead, they basically just said "Alright Rockets, if you win on Tuesday, we're toast."
What else were they supposed to say though? I think that when the home team loses game 1, it's implied that game 2 is a 'must win'. You can't drop two straight at home. You just can't. History is not on their side if they lose two consecutive home games (Although we were one of the exceptions to history...) I just don't think that this really helps us much, if at all. I think it's pretty much par for the course.
They already tried getting more physical in the 3rd quarter of the last game. It got Yao on the bench, but the problem for them is that they still had no answer for the rest of our players either. Add to this that our coaching staff will be making adjustments as well, notably on how to contain Roy getting into the paint. And that our young guys Lowry/Wafer/Landry might play a little better next game as well. And they are going to still need to overhaul their entire offensive/defensive schemes to win this series. Doing more of the same but with more intensity isn't going to work. They need to run 'n gun for 48min like the old school Suns maybe.
I certainly hope the Blazers put up a better fight in Game 2. If McMillan doesn't front Yao by the 1st quarter he should be fired. For us to have any chance against the Lakers we're going to have to execute like we did in Game 1, but do it when the other team is showing up also. The Blazers' adjustments in Game 2 should be fairly predictable, and I have a feeling Adelman is already two steps ahead of them. Let's hope that both teams play at a high level, because without that Houston is sitting dead in the water in the next round. And it'll be much more fun to watch .
It wasn't, but despite the fact that you weren't expecting one, what do you feel is wrong with the answer I provided? I think it's a perfectly reasonable alternative.
I dont think they will quit, but the rox sure can put serious doubt in their heads. the rox better come out like its a must win for them or they'll get embarrassed.
Game 1 was awesome for us, I think that was uncharacteristically good for us, which I think round 2 would be different. I expect both Yao, scola, and AB to go back to their old self in that game, because they can sustain the same intensity in game 2. However, I expect lowry, landry, and artest to steop up big time. game 2 is their turn in the spot light. I expect game 2 to be a good game where we slightly win with 3 pts.
I agree. I mean the only must win is an elimination game. Otherwise if you say it is a must win, you are saying it is the series, which is dumb. WTF are you gonna say if you lose?
But against this Rocket team if they lose on tuesday they are toast. The rockets will not fall apart like Tmac lead Rockets teams. These guys play hard every night and are fearless down to th wire. There only weak spot in that area is Brooks as seen by his falling apart against the lakers when Fisher got in his head. But he is learning and make no mistake about it no team in this league will intimidate the Rockets this playoff year. They may beat us but they won't intimidate us. Scola is a Doberman, Artest is pitbull, Battier is a German Shepard and Yao is a WOLF in sheeps skin. The Blazers are toast if they lose tuesday. make no mistake about it.
Yao just finally needs to accidentally use his elbows a couple times and he'll have a monster night guarantying us a win.
