No, they shot nothing but jumpers all game. Thats not going to get you to the line. But they cried enough about it. Look for Yao to be in foul trouble all game in game 2.
Reading this on a blazers site got me thinking.....on the nba, chinese market and do all fans cry 9including us) when our beloved teams lose.... ============================================= http://blog.oregonlive.com/behindblazersbeat/2009/04/behind_the_blazers_locker_room_15.html Another thing I like to add. Apparently the child-like princess that is Yao Ming can't be touched in the paint. How much protection is he getting from the refs on both ends. I can see them not calling every whistle when brandon iniates the contact but everytime. I will admit the Blazers can't stop that strategy, don't back away, force the refs to call something and drive really hard into Yao's body. Make him earn those non-calls. It sickens me to watch how they officiate Yao, If David Stern wasn't so hard up on keeping the Chinese market things would be different. I swear you think Yao was MJ out there how you couldn't touch him. Last time I checked chicken winging or hooking was an offensive foul. I guess not when you're Yao Ming and you're too slow to
I don't think it was badly ref'd... we were the more aggressive and physical team. it makes me wonder if utah jazz fans feel the same way towards us when we complain with some of the calls... but regardless, i have to say that Yao still does not get superstar calls that he should be getting
It kind of seem like the refs favored us, but I think it was mainly because Portland's fans booed every call that didn't go in there favor.
One has to have watched no Rockets games ever prior to this one or be blinded by pure hate to believe the NBA favors Yao. Defensively, I could see an argument. But it's more than balanced out by him getting killed on offense.
It was overall bad officiated, because the Rockets were playing physical defense all game long and none of it was called but they did call ticky-tack fouls. Also, they tried to get Yao out of the game by blowing 2-3 calls and let Oden travel and use his elbows. That's okay because Deke can take it, hopefully Deke will block the hell out of him in game 2 tomorrow. They were not unfair as in the game was rigged or anything buy they did blow some calls, mainly in favour of the Blazers Conclusion: Blazers wine and Rockets win
In general, welcome to "playoff" basketball...if your not going to get the same flop calls as with the regular season and it will be a physical/half court game. If you continue to wine about calls, then you should start planning your vacation.
of course this is the PLAYOFFS. THE ROCKETS CAME READY AND THE BLAZERS DIDNT. simple as that. the rockets played with intensity the whole game. cant blame the refs. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=4421197&postcount=1 just in case you missed it so to answer your question nope.
i thought the rockets got the majority of the bad calls personally. but, we have no reason to gripe about it since we won convincingly. yao gets the most bs calls called on him out of anyone in the league IMO.
Interesting, very interesting... this guy should do some research and Yao's free-throw totals.. especially vs. other "princesses" that "get protection from the refs". This guy was obviously just frustrated with the Blazers' lack of calls.
He missed the memo that the defensive player has a right to his spot if he goes straight up and keeps his arms straight up. Hey, Pryzbilla can do it too. He just hasn't worked on it as much because teams dont actively try to charge into him to get him out of the game.
