The thought of what you described about this house and its inhabitants sends chills up my spine.

Something of an update. My wife was showing the house to one of our friends who stopped by and the Fire Marshal was still there finishing up. He was talking to my wife about his job in general and how much he enjoys it. Specifically about the scientific process and how he has to eliminate all other possibilities before he settles on one cause of any fire. He then said something to the effect of, "Like, say I suspected this fire was caused by electrical problems..." She said the way he said it made her think he was trying to tell her the results of his investigation without really telling her. He also mentioned that whatever the firemen found in the house "wasn't what they thought" so I imagine the guy probably won't go to jail anyway. But maybe I'll still be rid of him, which would be great.

Update to this story, if anyone cares. Bulldozer showed up yesterday and started tearing the guy's house down after months of it being condemned. They're carting the debris away as well, so that should make it a LOT easier on me whenver I finally decide to sell my house. That dude's house was a freaking eye sore.

Something like this happened to my family's lake cottage in Minnesota.

This loner guy who was in his late forties had a shack right by ours, and it was a piece of **** and the dude kind of gave my female cousin the creeps, she felt really uncomfortable around him, he was always drinking alcohol and sometimes would stare at her and so she couldn't enjoy being out there if he was there.

Then one night his shack burned down with him inside of it.

She never seemed too upset about it.

Uh, no intent to offend, but should you maybe worry more about your cousin?

Serial murderer arsonist >>> alky pervert?

Did she ever torture woodland creatures while she was around you, or stare real intently at George C. Scott while her hair was whipping around?

    heh.

    I seriously doubt it.

She's a typical blonde who is usually only concerned about keeping her tan or getting on the newest fad diet.

    Bubbly personality? Deceptively shallow blonde?

    Exactly!!! Call the police.

That's just how grown up Firestarters like to roll, when they're not setting fires.

I think it's like their disguise or something.

There's no such thing as karma. There is only intention and accident.

No, he was never proven to have done anything wrong. Whatever it was that the firemen found in the house that sent up red flags wasn't what they thought it was. I never got any more elaboration than that. But they live somewhere else now and that's something.
