GREAT game! I was literally jumping on the bed throughout the entire game. Brooks was outstanding tonight, and Yao, well come on, he was just beastin' it. Let's keep this up! Can't wait till Tuesday night's game. GO ROCKETS GO!!! :D

Did anyone notice that Yao was only 2 points off tying Kareem's record of most points in 1 quarter in the playoffs?

next game all Roys will rush to Yao before they attack the rim. Adelman has to do something. Otherwise, it's highly possible that Yao will be kicked out of the game by referees. Yao got 4 fouls in last game.

I have finally had time to sit down and post my thoughts on this game.

This was the most complete game the Rockets have played in quite some years. Clearly, this was the best game they played all season. They played with energy and focus from the start.

It is a safe assumption that Yao will not go perfect from the field and the line, and that Brooks will not continue his torrid shooting. However, the Rockets proved to me in this game that they have the ability to end this series early.

Adelman coached a great game as well. He took timeouts at the right time and rested players when they needed to be rested. This did not happen in the regular season. It seems like our squad has come out determined from top to bottom to get out of the first round.

I only hope that once they do get out of the first round, they continue the intensity.

I cant wait for Game 2!

Yep, and he'll have many more chances to tying or maybe even breaking Kareem's record in the upcoming days and weeks.

I dono about you guys, but Yao has that look of determination in his eyes I havent seen before. I think he knows this series is all on him. He looked pretty vocal on the bench too. I am loving it! I hope Yao continues to beast on the Blazers.

    me too.

i didn't want to say this too early and jinx it, but since you said there already...

yao raised his level of play in game 1. i felt there's something that's a little different in him. the same thing i felt when watched his international games when he played for his china national team. and y'all know i've said this for years - we will see a truly dominant yao leading this team once he possesses the same passion and determination when playing for his own country.

we shall see in game 2,3,4 and on.

I think McMillan is contemplating using Oden and Przybilla together to combine a tinpot "twin-tower" against Yao, or starting LaMarcus at the 5 and Travis at the 4 to play pick-and-roll against Yao.

On one hand, I think Portland have too many unanswerable questions to win this series against us. On the other, we basically played a perfect game, and I think we can only go downhill from here... so I don't know what to think in terms of how this series will play out...

I just love how some of their fans (especially the ones chanting at the arena) truly believe the refs were the cause of the loss. There were bad calls on both sides of the ball. Yao picking up that horrible offensive foul when Roy flopped, and Yao's charge he took which got called for a block.

And for those talking about the free throw discrepancy, it's what happens when you attack the basket. It's the reasons why Utah got more free throw attempts than us when we play them. You play hard, you hustle, and you attack the basket, you get calls.

The problem with this is who will guard Scola for them? And they will giving up way too many rebounds.

Teams that give the Rockets problems, like the Jazz, has someone who can guard Scola and take Yao out to perimeter.

The best McMillan can do is use Przybilla or Oden on Scola and front Yao with LMA.

One thing I saw last night was that guys were actually attacking the basket when they did front Yao. Even Battier drove to the basket! Perhaps they were holding out during the regular reason :D?
