We blew the Blazers out today and the amazing thing is the referees were actually pretty FAIR in PORTLAND'S house. Although they made bad calls but generally they made it even. this begin to make me think, WHY suddenly the refs are having mercy on us? So I am having this wild CONSPIRACY idea for your amusement, haha. Who will face the Lakers in the 2nd round? the winner betwen Rockets and Blazers. Who is the "better oponent"? 1.Portland beat the **** out of the Lakers TWICE in their house. The league definitely doesn't want the series go to 7 and Lakers do have a chance got upset... 2.The Rockets...get beaten up by the Lakers FOUR TIMES...nuff said. 3.Yao has to ge thru the 1st round and get some FAIR CALLS as fans from both US and China being bashing Stern for a long time. Coming the playoff time, it's great opportunity for national exposure that the league treated Yao "good". there is no better idea of letting him past the 1st round and then lose to the lakers. 4.Maybe...the league wants to humiliate Tracy Macgrady with another 1st round exit. oh wait...a 1st round pass ABSENCE...?
Overall they did a good job, considering they made terrible calls both ways, but they made had it not been for our lead everybody would've blamed the refs. Oden got away with just about everything, Roy flopped on Yao and they tried to get Yao out of the game, some other touching fouls on Landry, Scola and Wafer. I liked how they didn't call for flopping once, ok maybe once, when Scola went flying when Aldridge didn't doo anything but I'll take it
Anyone notice that towards the end of the 3rd quarter when they inbounded the ball and the portland player hadn't touched the ball yet the clock was still going? I thought the clock doesn't go until the player has touched the ball?
Portland's clock keepers suck. When the ball is inbound theres like a second delay until the clock starts. Thats why Roy beat us with that buzzer beater in the beginning of the year.
Ok i will play your game Its been in the news Stern wants to get a loan for the league to help out teams that are struggling in there markets like the pacers. The only banks making substantial loans right now are banks that are owned behind the scenes by Chinese investors. I will let you guys draw your own conclusions Don't be surprised if the Rockets win it all this year.
After the initial bad calls against the rockets couldn't get the rockets in the game.. the refs realized it was over and started making calls for the rockets. just watch when lakers play.. they will make bad irrelevant calls against the other team.. but right when the other team is making a run.. they will make a BS call for kobe or something to stop the momentum.. you can't really notice it, but it helps a lot in terms of getting the lakers back in the game.
Oooh, fun. I wanna play. [conspiracy theory] Morey had statistics that said that the Rockets had the best chance of passing the first round if they played against the Zers. Furthermore, Morey have stats that said that the Rockets will have the best chance of getting out of the second round if they play the Lakers or Jazz. Guess what? The Rockets tank the last game against Dallas just to play the Zers and the winner of the Lakers/Jazz series. That's how good and confident the Rockets are. [/conspiracy theory] Rockets Championship '09 'nuff said.
lol, a win is a win... who cares about the Lakers in the 2nd round? it's a Markov Chain anything can happen
Some of the Blazer fans are amazing. Suddenly there's a huge conspiracy to get that huge Houston market and Yao into the second round. I guess the NBA was fine with that lucrative Utah market in the 2nd round each of the last 2 years. Suddenly they decided they want the Rockets to go to the 2nd round THIS year of all years.
So you're saying that Stern wanted that lucrative Utah market in the 2nd round the last 2 years. If anything Stern wants Portland in the 2nd round, two young, athletic teams going at it.
Erm... the real reason the Blazers lost: They did their rally thing before one playoff games was played. Perhaps that was why they lacked the capacity to rally when it was needed. There had no sustainability. Premature celebration did that to you. Next game it will be a different story, we must prepare for a close one.
I doubt it. David Stern has not cared about the quality of the refereeing before and I don't think he's going to start now. He's probably there to measure the atmosphere of Portland for the playoffs.
exactly.. that argument always baffles me.. If the NBA so dearly wants Yao to win bc of the Chinese market, wtf have they been waiting for?
