eh, they go to Yao when they get serious and need buckets.

If this game had been close Yao would have got 18 shots.

Yao wasn't being fronted in the 3rd.

For those of you who claim Yao is useless when fronted, you will be pleasantly supprised. Yao and Adleman have came up with an anti-fronting tactic and I believe it worked today few times.

He was being fronted, but the Rockets offense didn't grind to a halt, searching in vain for a way to get him the ball, so it wasn't as noticeable. Players moved, the ball moved, and we took advantage of the defensive openings.

Executing when we aren't shooting well, and when the other team executes on offense and puts on defensive pressure will be our biggest challenge.

I think the coach must think about it ,Why the 3rd and 4th quarter not feeding yao well,The rockets also.
yao should shoot 12-15 times a game .

I think this is a good thread. Brooks did shoot well today. But we can not forget he dribbled the ball for all 24 seconds and made two turn overs in
a row on the third quarter.

This Rocekts are not a dicipline team as Spurs. Maybe that is because our
coach is Alderman, not JVG. I am not sure if this is a good thing or not.

Too often I've watched the team do this, it's a disturbing mentality tbh. They need to get in a consistent pattern on the offensive end. Such as, "when Yao is not fronted, go to Yao. When Yao is fronted, do X."

Personally I think we should go to the AB/Scola pick and pop when Yao is fronted. Have Yao boxed out and ready to rebound a miss from Scola. The pick and pop with Scola is probably our second most consistent play this season.

I dont know why some people cant understand this. Like DD said, as long as the team is scoring and winning, who cares who do it? Some people want the rokets to win, but Yao has to have a good game. I dont care if yao scores 2 points as long as the rockets win.

That's not what we're concerned about. We're concerned about what happened against the Mavs happening again. And more often than not, when Yao has a good game, when you can get Yao the ball down low, it opens up the game for everyone else and the team's chance of winning is much higher. So there is a huge incentive for getting Yao the ball on a consistent basis, unless the rest of the team can come up with plays to create open shots for themselves. Today I thought Brooks got a lot of nice open threes (which he made). Whether this was good playcalling by RA or just horrible defense by POR I'm not sure - but if the team can consistently do that I wouldn't worry about Yao being fronted.

Blazers did front Yao a bit in the third, but Brooks was running around making them nervous.

yao was fronted from the start of the 3rd. it wasnt noticeable because we weren't force feeding him like we usually would in past seasons. if yao didnt foul out, he probably would have never touched the ball on offense in the 3rd. noone "forgets" to pass to yao. we look for him every time hes in the game. when he doesn't get the ball, it means defenses are playing him better.

Sometimes I wonder what game some of you are watching. There was an obvious reason Yao didn't shoot in the third and didn't even have an attempt. Instead of banging our heads against the wall and try to throw it to Yao, we realiezd that they had 5 people staring at Yao the entire time. I mean come on, even Shane was getting wide open drives to the basket. I bet all their coach talked about during halftime was Yao Yao Yao Yao Yao and then they forgot the Rockets have other players too.

Of course. But if the other team adjusts their D to make it more difficult to get Yao the ball down low, there's no reason to try to force it in there. Use their shift in defensive focus against them. We don't need to be a one man team. Yao did a brilliant job in the first half, and his presence opened up things for his teammates later in the game.
