I see now the Knicks have called...can you tell me what humiliating trades they have offered? I see they're not even reasonable since they're begging :(

Any Knick trade is unreasonable because NY doesn't have anybody the Rockets need. If Houston trades the rights to Ming, doubtful, it would be a blockbuster.

The only commodities the Knicks can shop is their #7 pick, Sprewell and/or Marcus Camby. They have nothing else of value.

I did see a couple of NYK tidbits in Poison Pete's Sunday column:

By the way, in an exercise in futility, Scott Layden continues to pursue Stephon Marbury as do the T'Wolves, who are dying to reunite him with Kevin Garnett; he's not available ...

The Knicks, Blazers, Warriors and Clippers are bombarding the Bulls and Rockets with all sorts of tempting offers for the draft's top two slots, reveal sources. New York wants Yao Ming; the other teams want to call Jay Williams their own. Carroll Dawson would be expelled from Houston if he gave up the rights to Ming, whereas Jerry Krause can't screw it up by retaining Chicago's No. 2 position. Trading it would expose him to unnecessary risks and criticism.

Scott Layden is a moron for running the expiring contract of Patrick Ewing out of town. That now equals Shandon Anderson, Howard Eisley, and probably Clarence Weatherspoon (with more cap space the Knicks could have manuevered something other than their 48th undersized PF).

I remember when Layden rejected Houston+Ewing for O'Neal+BG. Wanted Bonzi, too. Moron.

If he is actually trying to get this top pick he is just wasting everyone's money on useless phone calls.

    NYKFan,

Greg M hit the nail on the head.

By the way, is it CBA legal to offer every other year first round draft pick in perpetuity.

    Every time the phone rings...

    Hello...

How 'bout 2008 as well???? Oh, PLEEEEEEEASE??????

Rocket, I think that a trade with NY getting the #1 could happen....

IF Layden is fired, we hire someone who knows basketball, China demands Ming only go to GS, Chicago, or NY, and a 3rd or 4th team is involved....so basically when hell freezes over

Rocket what have the knicks offered? I saw your other post and you had some inside info, do you also know any other inside info bout the Knicks?

Why wouldn't we do a deal with Golden State or Chicago that could give us alot more by just a higher pick in the draft? #1 for #7 and scrubs? Do we look like Golden State or Chicago to you? :p

I don't understand Knicks logic. How did they get into this holy mess?

They'll never get out of it, unless they go through one more season of mediocrity. That would be by trading everything for 3 players who are barely decent, but have expiring contracts (HUGE expiring).

I've been lookin around, and it looks to me like they should go for these 3:

    Tyrone Hill
    Kenny Anderson
    Elden Campbell

Give up everything. If you could, Allan Houston too, but I doubt you can. You can trade Spree for Elden Campbell and a pick. Then trade Mark Jackson and Charlie Ward for Kenny Anderson. Then trade Weatherspoon and Kurt Thomas for Tyrone Hill. You'd have a team like this, but at least with a future: (I thinkt his is better than your current team)

Camby/Campbell (Big backup minutes, to avoid Camby injury)
TyHill/Campbell (Big minutes also, because TyHill is old)
    #7 pick/Shandon Anderson
    Allan Houston/Shandon Anderson
    Kenny Anderson/Howard Eisley

Cap space is VERY useful to a city like NY. Everyone wants to be there, unlike Chicago. Plus, you gain a couple of future picks for depth. That #7 pick could be Qyntel Woods, Jaerd Jeffries, maybe Dunleavy, maybe Caron Butler, maybe Tsick, or maybe even Nachbar.

You have a joint $25M coming off your cap after a year, while having 2 extra draft picks. That's (the team) actually easily a 5th seed in the East, btw.

My deals may be a bit off, but a little bit of tweaking can easily be done. Remove picks, or add better players, or add future picks, whatever. Important thing is that you get rid of some salary, and get better.

I think layden is really screwing you guys over.
