Portland starters vs Rockets PG-Steve Blake (8 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 5.3 apg, 36% field goal, 20% 3 point) SG- Brandon Roy(21 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 5.3 apg, 39% field goal, 25% 3 point) SF- Nicolas Batum (8.7 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 0.7 apg, 62.5% field goal, 67% 3 point PF- LaMarcus Aldridge (23.3 ppg, 8.7 rpg, 2.0 apg, 48% field goal) C- Joel Przybilla (3.3 ppg, 7.3 rpg, .3apg, 62.5% field goal) Rockets starters vs Portland PG- Aaron Brooks (16 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 3.0 apg, 44% field goal, 50% 3 point) SG- Ron Artest (15 ppg 3.7 rpg, 4.3 apg, 36% field goal, 44% 3 point) SF- Shane Battier (8.5 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 3.5 apg, 35% field goal, 46% 3 point) PF- Luis Scola ( 15 ppg, 7 rpg, 1 apg, 69% field goal) C- Yao Ming (16.3 ppg, 8.7 rpg, 1.7 apg, 42% field goal) Just wanted to show that. Seems like the Rockets need to play like a team to win this series, Brooks-Blake matchup will also be good, we need Brooks to dominate Blake.
Blazers may go big with Roy playing the PG and Fernandez at 2. Then probably we need Lowry to slow Fernandez. Blazers's size may cause problems with the Rockets' midgets backcourt!
those numbers stood out to me. If those continue like that, there is no way the Rockets lose this series
i have a feeling that everyone will step it up a notch, yao will avg over 20 and luis and artest will avg between 15-20. we'll win in 5
I crunched some numbers last night and in games where Roy plays a team with perimeter stoppers, he doesn't shoot well. There were 19 games total, against the following teams and players: Rockets - Battier, Artest Lakers - Kobe, Ariza OKC - Sefalosha, Durant Miami - Wade New Orleans - Posey Charlotte - Bell, Wallace Washington - Butler Cleveland - Pavlovich, LeBron He averaged 19.7 points on just .415 percent from the field and .305 from three in those games. That's down significantly from his season averages of .480 and .377, especially when you consider how much better he must have shot against average/bad defenses to keep his season %'s that high. Unless Roy instantly turns it on for the playoffs, I don't see him shooting well against our duo of Artest and Battier.
I like Roy but all this hype is ridiculous. He is very very good player, but he is a notch below the Kobes, Lebrons, Wades, and a healthy Tmac. He does not have the elite athleticism to physically impose his will.
I agree he is a tier below those guys but he is scary good in the clutch and I think his athleticism is better than advertised. He is also a fantastic ball handler and can get into the lane and all the way to rim just about any time he pleases. Oh, and there is his mid-range jumper which just about brings rain when he shoots it and somehow finds the bottom of the net more times than not. I may be overrating the guy but the only players in the league who scare me more at the end of a close games than Roy are Kobe and Wade. Sorry, but he has already passed McGrady in terms of clutchness IMO.
I like Roy alot, dude is a baller, but he is no KOBE !!! There is no perimeter player(minus Kobe) on the planet, especially a 2guard that I fear with the wing defenders we have. Lebron, no, Dwade, no, Roy, no !! Where we've had problems is explosive PG's like Deron, and Jason Terry. But if we are talkin 2guards, I have no doubt that Roy will not be the factor. If Portland really wants to beat us, it won't be because of Roy, it will be because of Aldridge. Aldridge poses a much bigger threat IMO
He might not be kobe, but he is a guy that can come off that high pick and roll and knock down that medium range jumper all day. Look for them to even put aldridge at center, and run that pick and pop, while fronting Yao on the defensive end.
Yeah, it's key to shut donw Aldridge too if we want to beat the Blazers. we should play Chuck Hayes more.
