What do you think of Ramon Sessions? When he's gotten minutes, he's shown he can be a good scoring/assist guy. I assume Milwauke would ask for a lot in exchange, though.
I have loved Lowry ever since I saw Artest start to lose his mind in one game and Lowry grabbed him by the head and told him to STFU. The kid is a LEADER.
Sessions did light up agianst the Rockets this year. I would be satisfied with Sessions, even though his numbers declined this year. However, after putting up the poll about what team to build around it has made be reconsider the point. Most championship teams do seem to have that sg/sf unless you have someone like Hakeem.
I don't think Sessions would necessarily be an upgrade over Lowry. Like Lowry, his outside shooting is a relative weakness and even though he's a little taller, I'm not sure if he's anywhere near as good defensively as Lowry. I'm not sure there are many PGs in the entire league as good as Lowry defensively.
That was impressive. Even more impressive was the fact that Artest listened to him. Yet another impressive aspect was that Lowry hadn't even been with the team for more than a few games and was already showing that kind of leadership.
I remember that. It made me sit up and think, "Whoa... we may have found ourselves a new starting point!" After watching the Dallas game, I think he's earned it. Brooks, as talented as he is, had that "deer in the headlights" look that scares me going into the playoffs.
Yup. Brooks is shaky, at best, at running a team. He's got some good fundamentals and outstanding quickness. He can handle the ball, pass and finish with both hands effectively. I believe he is also a good to very good shooter, regardless of what the numbers say so far. He is not a good floor general. He does not have good court vision. He is not a good finisher in traffic even though he does have great touch, especially off the glass. It's one thing to have good touch but if you can't finish with contact or create space to get your shot off, all the touch in the world won't do a thing for you. He has to learn to use change of speed effectively to get space. He also needs to bulk up to improve finishing with contact. He is also a subpar defender because of his frame, not necessarily his height. He actually has long arms and big hands for his height. A lack of mass is his biggest issue physically. Nate Robinson is a few inches shorter than him yet is pretty good at finishing with contact.
I do love how Lowry pushes the fast break, but he disappears once we go into half court mode. I tell you what, the point gaurd we need is the one that can get it to Yao when he's being fronted. That would be our #1 point guard. Maybe Lowry is too short??
I agree... I feel like the clutchfans community embraced him when he was a backup and now that he is a starter many of us bash him. I think this has two reasons- first, Alston was so terribly inconsistent and two, Brooks was lighting up the second units. He was so much more effective as a scoring spark plug. As a starter, his flaws are more apparent. I feel like right now Adelman is just trying to balance things out...putting Brooks in as back pg with Wafer in the back court could mean a scoring spree by the opponent. Also Adelman wants people that can spread the floor with Yao in the game, so advantage Brooks. This might be flawed logic because the second unit of other teams shouldn't really be a focus and Brooks is only effective for the Rockets when he can excel individually. He just needs to be confident and do what he does best. It is so awesome to have Lowry, he can come in a calm things down if the going gets tough, or pile on the pressure when we have our opponents against the ropes. We might need to insert Lowry in with the starters from time to time but I'll trust the coaching staff (as I can only do). -V -V
I admire the fact that you're willing to say that, considering your moniker. Brooks needs to do a lot of work during the summer. You described his faults very well. Yes, he's got a lot of talent, but while the "word" now is that Brooks will remain the starter, I wish Adelman would make the move to Lowry. Then let them battle for it next preseason. If any good came out of that Dallas game, it was that Lowry is clearly the best of the two at running the offense. At least today.
The moniker stemmed from my frustrations with Alston. I saw Brooks during his 1st Summer League and created the ID. I was a Rockets fan for far longer than I even knew who Brooks was. I want what's best for the team. Right now, the best PG is Lowry by far. Lowry is >>> Brooks and >>>>>>>>>>>> Alston.
