Whether its being matched up with Utah (worst matchup possible) two years in a row, our stars getting mysterious long-term injuries every year, bad luck in the draft (portland stealing Roy one pick before us), the worst-case scenario of the #5 seed that played out this year . . . as rockets fans we've had about ten years of plain old bad luck. we dont have a black cat or a billy goat or bartman or anything else to blame the failure/bad karma on, but to hell with it. whatever it is, I want it to be over with.

so to have some fun, I'm going to give in to my superstitious side and do something I have never done before in hopes of reversing the curse. If anyone else wants to join me, I think it could be an entertaining way to spend the playoffs.

Feel free to post something that you will (or won't do) to support the cause. whatever it is, is fine. it doesnt have to be anything extreme.

    Heres mine:
I have watched every rockets playoff game for the last 20 years, and most of them multiple times, and really haven't paid much attention to the other playoff games (the non-rockets games) until the rockets are eliminated. This year I will watch every other playoff game, no matter how early or late, and not watch the rockets, until they are eliminated or win a championship. This could potentially mean forcing myself not to watch the NBA finals, should they get there. :(

One of my best friends is a Portland fan. I'm going to go to his house and root for the Blazers...hey it can't hurt.

Haha well this is a first....I love the enthusiasm and motive behind this, but you have quite the fortitude to forbid yourself from even watching Rockets playoff games. Are you just gonna TiVo them and watch them after it's all over?

I will root harder and this year everything I am wearing will be rockets related ,not just the jersey, when I am watching the games.

    Bleed Red.... Rockets Red.

Awesome thread. My plan if we played the Jazz again was to buy a Boozer jersey and wear it during road games. This year I might do the same with a Brandon Roy jersey. Of course, being as superstitious as I am I have to test out this idea first!

what started the curse? was it trading horry and cassell for barkley? if was all downhill after that.

i think we must honor horry and cassell during the playoffs. so before every rockets playoff game i will watch E.T. and a random will smith movie.

When the Rockets won the championship the first time (I was only 10), I had left my Rockets hat outside on the picnic table. It got rained on repeatedly, it got nasty, but I left it there. They won.

I left it there for another year. They won again.

... but alas, I do not have that hat any more. However, I do have a Landry jersey... hmmm
