    Steve Francis - Franchise

Anthony Miller - Pig, Pig Miller

    Cuttino Mobley - Cat, Mobes

If you think about it..the concept of a nickname isn't that strange. Especially if you play ball or are exposed to some sort of team play. Either they already had one before.. or.. it's developed while being with the Rockets. My guess is that the remainder of the rockets have nick names as well. And that all the teams in the NBA have atleast 8 nicknames. They're just not well publicized. Now common... I wonder what knick fan knows that Anthony Miller's nickname is "pig."

Nicknames in sports are kind of like aviator callsigns in the navy. They are almost a rite of passage -- everyone gets one, and every nickname has a story behind it that tells a little about the individual.

    Kind of like bulliten boards.

Well, I really think all of the nicknames everyone has reflects the type of team we have. Everybody on he Rockets feels very endearingly towards one another. You can see it reflected in the pregame dunk contests, the laughing, the chest bumps. The Rockets are a very happy bunch of guys, which I feel is why they are so fun to watch.

Notice Kelvin Kato is pissed off all of the time. When you watch him play, or sit on the bench he looks furious, and what do ya know, he doesn't have a nickname. Interesting theory, eh? (give him time, he came from Portland, he has an excuse to be that way. )

Everybody here has nicknames too. That is except for Brian Kagy, Will, LHutz, Jeff, and a few others. What does that mean?
