Let's go back 12 years ago today; what were you doing with your life?

Me? I was 23 and struggling to get a Master's degree in math in Alabama (I didn't get it) and wondering what to do with my life. I also was getting ready to watch my Rockets with Charles Barkley, playing his FIRST season with the team, to play the T-Wolves who had made the playoffs for the first time in their history led by their star player, Kevin Garnett. Little did I realize that would be the last time the Rockets got out of the first round of the playoffs.

    Great thread.

I was one of the founders of Digital Anvil and was busy designing the video game Starlancer.

And I was 32 and posting here.

I was 20, in my sophmore year of college, watching the same playoff series you were.

Have faith, I think they can do it this year.

I was in elementary school >_>;; 1st grade, I believe.

I was already a fan of the Rockets though..not as hardcore now, but every time I'd play NBA Live on the SNES (and eventually PS1), I always picked the Rockets.

    Good times.

I was 19, sophomore in college. I had newspaper clippings and all kinds of Rockets stuff all over my dorm room. Good times.

January 1997 was when I immigrated to US from China. I was 11, and my parents had been here for a few years already. I was attending middle school in Beaumont, TX, and I didn't become a hardcore Rockets fan until when I moved to Houston in '99. (not one of the best years, might I add)

I'll admit that I didn't know who Yao Ming was until he became a potential draft pick of the Rockets :p

    I was 12 years old

I faked sickness to watch Game 6 and got rewarded with Stockton's 3.

I should have learned my lesson then and never watched another game.

I was 7 and attended one of the playoff games you where mentionning. I remember being impressed by the size of the court - which looks smaller when you are in the arena.
I also remember bragging my dad the whole game to get a Rockets jersey which I didn't get (he instead bought me a Rockets tshirt the day after the game).

Two years later I would move from Houston to Belgium where I am residing now. I plan to come back to the US in a couple of years.

I was 6 and didn't really know what the Rockets were, I just knew they got a parade downtown we would go to every now and then.

In 97 I was a young lad probably watching games with my dad.

This thread just reminded me of one of Jordan's championships, and I asked my dad "Why is that guy crying, he just won a championship?".

I was 10 years old, and I was collecting Olajuwon, Drexler and Barkley cards.

That and I hated the Jazz.

I was 17, smoking pot, taking it for granted that the Rockets would be back in the finals with Chuck. When that didn't happen and the big three began to retire, I stopped paying attention to the Rockets for years.

When Yao Ming was drafted, I became interested again. When Tracy McGrady was acquired, the future seemed so bright. Sigh.

I was 7, so a lot of the ugly pinstriped seasons sort of run together. I was probably picking my nose.

I was fresh out of college and renting cars for a living. I was also praying for the day when the Rockets would come to their senses and get rid of those GOD AWFUL uniforms.

I'm not using hyperbole when I say that they were the worst uniforms in the history of organized sports. It honestly affected my Rocket fandom. Seriously. They were that bad.
