In the last game, Yao was shut down by coach and teammates (Artest and Brooks, especially) in the third quarter and was futher shut down by ref and Mars in the fourth quarter.

We can beat Mars this year if we are in the series of seven games. It is just so ashamed that Rocket lost the crutch game to Mars again.

They are called the Mavs (short for Mavericks) not Mars/Martians.

Please, the number 1 reason the Rockets lost last night's game is fronting. There are secondary reasons, but that is the main one. Period.

I just want someone to whisper into Yao's good ear that if he is fronted it is ok if he goes and gets some offensive rebounds, because...well...there is no one between him and the basket.

Mavs fronted Yao in the first and second quarters too.

fronting and then not even attempting to swing the ball to the other side of the post. when they did swing it and post yao on the other side of the basket he got the ball. it was a joke how they couldn't follow a game plan last night.

Yao run out of gas in the 2nd half. He tried too hard in the 1st half, just like what Tmac did in the game 6 last season. Other players have to step up in that situation.

I noticed the same thin, but that is also be a byproduct of the fronting defense.

One of the keys would be how Adelman is going to manage Yao's minutes in the playoffs.

They fronted Yao the whole game not just the second half. 1st half we moved the ball,We kept feeding Yao and he was in rythym

Second half we got impatient and got into one of them modes we have been going into the since the start of the season. It's a trend we get up 17 1st half against the lakers earlier in the season and we couldn't score. We get up 11 points aaginst the lakers the last game we played them and we couldn't score. We get up 15 points in chicago and we couldn't score in the 4th quarter. We go up 14 last night and go into the same drought.

It isn't the front defense at all Yao will continue to get his, our problem is we don't have a guy who can break down the defense when they start to overplay Yao like that.

We get a guy who can take his man off the dribble and create plays it would open Yao's game up even BIGGER. Yao needs another guy who can score and the whole fronting scoring issue wouldn't such a problem like it is.

Game was tied at 80 when they started fronting with Brandon Bass, we all know how it turned out. During this time Yao had only two touches resulting in a missed jumper and a traveling call. That's 5 minutes in crunch time when your main offensive weapon only had two touches because of the fronting.

Any opposing coach in the playoffs will coast along all game long; just keeping the score close, until sometime in the fourth quarter when they will switch to the fronting defense because the Rocket's and Yao Ming have no answer for it.

Their only answer in years has been hoisting jumpers and threes and praying they go in. We might win a few games this way but we will not contend for championships. It is a fatal flaw in today's game with post players and is only magnified when your post player isn't an athletic at all.

My conclusion is that as long as Yao is the centerpiece of our offense we will be easily shut down whenever teams want to employ the front defense.

It is a shame it has to be this way because I would love to win with Yao but I just don't see it happening.

    agree to all, except that.

it's not the fronting (a primitive defensive scheme). it's how we counter it. we are more than capable to attack it, but we haven't learned for some reason.
