Judging from the current result of the game - Denver is beaten badly by Portland, I think Rocket's lost tonight is a good thing.

If we won tonight, we would be #2 seat and Dallas would be #7 seat. We would meet Dallas at home for the first round.

We lost tonight. We will be #5 seat and meet Portland on the road for the first round.

Comparing these 2 scenarios, I would prefer the second one based the matchups. It would give Rockets better chance to advanced to 2nd round.

    Ridonkulous.

Home court advantage is vitally important.

Dallas is a more difficult matchup than Portland but a win tonight would have done wonders for our confidence. We will have a tough time against Roy and co as well.

homecourt is more important man, especially against a team that is 34-7 at home

I think the matchup is more important than home court advantage. See tonight's game with Dallas, we apparently not match up very well with Dallas. If we meet them in first round, even with HCA, I will say the chance is 50/50. But if for portland without HCA, I will say the chance is 60/40.

For this year, I will be very happy if we pass first round. Off course, I will be more happier if we pass 2nd round. But we have to do thing step by step.

I think who are we playing in the first round (Portland or Dallas) is not really the issue. It's the way we lost the game. We need the momentum going and the confidence.

As it proved to be in 2007 and 2008 for the Houston Rockets.

According to BigBigRed's simulation, there's 13.8% chance we'll avoid the Lakers in the second if we advance from the 4/5 matchup. On the other hand, if we were a 2/3 seed, there was a 34.2% chance we'd avoid them if we advance to the third round.

The later we have to see them, the more likely they are to get knocked off before we see them.

Don't try to make a worst situation better. We have a chance to get #2 seed and play those pathetic Mavs. Yea they're not that great...they look good by beating us but that's because we have a stupid coach that literally does stupid things to help them win it.

But we have a chance to get #2 seed and homecourt and also avoid the Lakers. There is just so many advantage. So now you go from so many advantages to absolute NONE!!! From top to BOTTOM!! From HIGH TO LOW!!Anyway you put it...it's not good!

this team would be more focused going on the road, but portland crowd should be pretty excited having their team in the playoffs for awhile

I live in Portland, actually a quarter mile from the Rose Garden. I hope I can tickets, but I'll probably get boo'ed out of the arena.

Let's face it, the Rockets blew their best opportunity of going deep in the playoffs in years.

Not only will the Rockets now have to face Portland (an incredible team at home, regardless of the "matchups") but even if they beat Portland, they will have to face either the Lakers or Jazz... which both create horrible matchup problems for the Rockets.
