It is really hard to understand why when YAO is Fronted , is there no play in basketball that can be effective to get him the ball , or use him to BLOCK his defender ( since he is behind his defender ) so that someone can Drive to an OPEN LANE , or run some thing else to get someone a Wide open Shot.. IF we cannot solve the Fronting Problem.. REALISTICALLY, how can we ever be a championship TEAM.. I think , the Problem is with the COACHES , not YAO or the his teammates. If you all remember couple of years ago under JVG when TMAC went down , YAO became very dominant for a about 20 games before he got injured .. At that time JVG was running plays to counter Fronting..
Yao in right side post and Artest on left side post. Battier, Scola, AB on perimeter. When Yao gets fronted, Artest sets a pick on the defender fronting Yao. Yao rolls to other side. While this is happening, the ball swings on the perimeter to the opposite side. Yao should be able to step in front of the new (Artest's defender) because of size advantage.
Rockets can beat the fronting but it usually involves an all-star Guard who can drive right to the basket.... now can anyone sees the value of TMac?
