A few of them are former NBA players, but it was Wang Zhizhi then Yao Ming dominated CBA, not import players. To be fair, some of them are key members in their CBA teams, such as the one who put back the ball for Shanghai Sharks to win the championship.

All in all, I don't think it is true to say that American HS players in general can play to CBA level (maybe one or two can, like K Brown). I call it Ignorant!!!!!

I would say a few more than one or two HS players could hold their own in the CBA. Maybe not this year's HS crop, but last year's and next year's yes. That being said, I think Ming can be an 18-10-3 man in his prime.

windandsea - thanks for the link.

There are many links within what you have provided. I noticed that the Chinese National team defeated the USA National team 83-82 in August, 2001. There were many notable players on the USA team -Dixon, Wilcox, Ely.

It appears that Wang is more dominant than Yao on the Chinese National team. Is this true or did I not read enough game results?

    Gater,

Two year back, yes. Last year, hard to tell. From this year on, Yao is much better than Wang. Remember Yao IS 21 and Wang already 25.

    Thank you ltg2.

It appears there were other good players on the USA National team - Dan Dickau, Tahj Holden, Roger Mason and Chris Owens.

Yugoslavia won with China second and the USA 3rd.

This speaks well of Yao Ming.

How is august 2001 2 years ago? I probaly am just talking out of my ass here, but if wang was a more dominant player that ming last year, i dont think that is a good sign for ming, as wang isnt even a decent backup center.

I have posted about this timeframe before. Wang was a more dominant player and the go to guy for China 2-3 years ago. Ming was very young and Wang was older and often contributed mightely, sometimes 21 and 21. But, Wang was the man on those teams. Both seem to do well against our top American collegiate talent and against top Euro competition. Ming also played against some college teams in 1-2 years ago and at times dominated, but only played 20 minutes or there abouts. Remember, China has a history of 7 footers who complete well. Actually, at the time Ming was the young buck on the Chinese national teams, Wang and the other 7 footer who plays for Denver now were the older, go-to guys....interesting that China played with 3 7footers on one team.

Tarpley is the only one that jumps out at me as recognizable. Not that he is still good.

i don't know dude...."Mike" is on that list. Believe me, i've seen him play, and "Mike" freakin' brings it. I'm guessing that if Yao Ming can dominate "Mike", he's got a place in the NBA.
