    First one:
Interview with Eric Zhang, Ming's cousin.

    It's long. Eric said:
    1. His professor has just got the qualification of NBA agent. They will not get any payment from Ming, but just help him.
    2. He personally felt that the Rockets is high on Ming. The possibility that they trade the #1 pick is very small.
    3. He investigate the GMs of 29 NBA teams, 24 of them thought Ming would be the first pick this year.
    4. Ming will follow the rules of NBA and USA.
He is very glad that Ming always put his interests in this way: first, improve his baskball skill;second, life quality;last, payment.

    Second one:
The mayor of Houston had a friendly conversation with CBA officals.

The mayor welcomes Ming to play for Rockets and promises that they will take care of Ming's life at Houston.

Houston Welcomes Chinese Basketball Star, Mayor

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Xinhuanet 2002-05-24 21:18:51

¡¡¡¡BEIJING, May 24 (Xinhuanet) -- Houston Mayor Lee P. Brown said in a meeting with a Chinese basketball official that the city welcomed Chinese towering center Yao Ming to play for the Rockets.

¡¡¡¡"He said Yao would be welcomed by Houston," Xin Lancheng, secretary general of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), told Xinhua following his meeting with Brown Friday afternoon.

¡¡¡¡Brown, who was here on business activities, had friendly talks with Xin at the CBA headquarters here in Beijing.

¡¡¡¡"They added that Yao will be well looked after if he is chosen to play in Houston," Xin said.

¡¡¡¡Yao, 2.26 meters or 7-5 feet, was released to take part in the NBA draft after leading the Shanghai Sharks to their first ever CBA league title in April and the Rockets, who won the NBA draft lottery on Sunday, showed great interest in 22-year-old big boy.

¡¡¡¡Mayor Brown will leave for Shanghai where is Yao's home city and his Shanghai Sharks Club.

¡¡¡¡"Mr. (Carroll) Dawson called us to tell us they remain very interested in Yao Ming," Yao's representative Erik Zhang told Houston television station KRIV early this week.

¡¡¡¡Houston general manager Carroll Dawson said on Tuesday that with plenty of other elite players to consider, the Rockets have much homework to do before the June 26 draft. Duke's Jay Williamsand Mike Dunleavy are other possible No. 1 picks.

¡¡¡¡Yao is now training with the Chinese national team in their preparations for the September man's basketball world championship.Enditem

    Thanks windandsea!

By the way, can you read Chinese Windandsea, and....are you chinese? I bring up this because this is another win Houston will get with drafting Yao -- to draw fans from China and American Asian Community!! Acutally I am Chinese, too. I swear I wouldn't have registered with this board without the Yao-Draft stuff, and I will definitly leave this board if Yao ends with another team. I love you Rockets, but I love Yao first.

I agree. All this cryptic stuff and this hard-to-believe "source" stuff gets 200 replies, but windandsea's posts with real information and insight are more valuable to me. Thanks windandsea!
