Clutchfans Game Thread: Rockets @ Mavericks 4/15/2009

This is definetly the biggest game of the season and if we lose it will definetly affect the team so I will not accept anything less than a WIN !! Artest needs to play like he did the first game @ Dallas, Yao needs to get as many touches as possible and we need our bench to perform well. Wafer in particular is not as good on the road as he is at home and he will be matched up with Terry probably so please Von play some defense. Defense will be key and we need to get easy buckets so AB, Lowry, Scola, Wafer, Battier and Landry need to run like the wind. I'm tired of hearing we do not have the athleticism or the speed to run the fast break, that's nonsense.

I would like to see Artest matched up with Dirk. He can actually "blow by" Dirk when he does his Kobe-time. Defensively he can play Dirk ala SJack in the 07 playoffs. Battier on Howard should be good enough and I think this is the first game we can put Lowry on Terry. I would also take my chances with Brooks on Kidd... this will create a mismatch in "their" favor and turns Kidd into a scorer. This takes away his greatest strength and also exposes him on defense when Brooks carves him up. Play Yao agaisnt the big men, and rest him when they go small ball and front. Scola is better at the pick and roll in these situations against the smaller defender.

I also think this is the line up you roll in response to Dallas changing things up. Obviously we should go into the playoffs with our set line ups until change is necessary. It is just nice to know change is available. 05 revenge will be sweet... we basically trade Tmac, Sura, Barry, Wesley, James, Bowen, Weatherspoon for Artest, Scola, Lowry, Battier, Wafer, Barry plus we added Landry and Brooks in the draft. They have changed too, essentially Harris, Stackhouse, VanHorn, Diop for Kidd, Barrea, Bass. This will be fun.

Doubt they will play him straight up with Ericka Dampier. So it'll be a test to for him to prove he can beat fronting and double team. If we limit their running game and make them play half court, we'll pummel them.

 

every time i see howard on the floor, i worry yao being injured, he is just a dirty player of all time.

 

It feels like forever since we played them, and things have changed since then...It'd be interesting to see how Kyle Lowry has really progressed since his first game as a rocket was against the Mavs.
If either Terry or Dirk have poor shooting nights I think we'll win...
If Yao gets over 20 pts and decent games from the rest I think we'll also win
I am also excited to see what Von Wafer can do...the three games vs Dallas, Wafer only played in two, where the most minutes he's played is 16 minutes..
The Rockets will probably start off slow as typically usual, then I think that they'll pull away with a W with the heroics of Super Von, and Battier.

 

THE ONLY GOOD THING ABOUT DALLAS IS I-45 SOUTH !!!!!

 

let nowitzki score all he want, when hes on fire hes unstoppable anyway. but make sure we neutralize the others, especially terry. also i expect yao to dominate erica. must win

i'm sure the rest of y'all are too but i am soo pumped about this game!!!! this is an awesome feeling! hope we win, play a controlled game and the refs don't mess it up.
