I pity this fool who had to make a ranking of 450 NBA players. What a pathetic job he has!

    Oh, and you forgot one.

    104. Kyle Lowry
Savvy acquisition by Daryl "Stop Calling me Dork Elvis; It's Starting to Catch on Around The Office" Morey. The Rockets are getting a combined 19-7-5 every night from the Lowry/Brooks combo. Not shabby. The lesson, as always: When in doubt, make a deal with Chris Wallace.

    This guy is totally clueless.

Yao gives us 18 and 8!

    Idiot.

I agree with this. I don't think anybody is doubting that 20/10/2 is a great stat line, it's just that Yao very rarely puts his STAMP on a game like other great players do. If LeBron gets 20/10, you'll know it because on his way to getting those numbers, he would have posterized you a few times, and gotten some "loud" buckets, as I like to call them (a fade-away baseline J isn't a "loud" bucket....an AND-1 dunk IS a "loud" bucket). Look, everyone knows that Yao is this team's MVP and without him, we would be nowhere, but it's in a race that rewards INDIVIDUAL play, he's not going to be in the top 5 or 10....it's a fact of life that I'm quite ok with.

First of all, there's no way that Yao would average 20/10/2 this year. There's one game left and Yao's 19.6/9.9/1.9 right now.

Second, Yao is probably one of the handful NBA players who would trade his individual stats for team success. They're right about one thing, Yao is what he is, an unselfish, team first player with the best low post game in the NBA.

    laughable if nothing else......

the rockets are about to probably lock up a second seed in the wild west....win the southwest division title in a division with the mavs, spurs, and new orleans........have a good chance to finally exercise the demons of first round past........all this after losing arguebly our best player for the season.........and trading our starting point guard mid season........and this is all they have to say in mainstream media

    thats why i dont eat shrimp(chuck barkley)j/k

but no really thats why i dont read and hate when people post there articles/comments here.....we all know most talkin heads havent watched a game all season........they have read stats and start spewing diarrhea at the mouth about something they have no idea about.........point blank yao had a tremendous season as did many other rockets(scola, landry, wafer)and when me knock somebodies ass out this year in the playoffs vindication will be o so sweet

sorry rant ends here.... :D  ;) :)

Why do we discredit all fricking journalists who have opposing views from us? just because they dont agree or suck on the Rockets' dick doesnt mean theyre a "douche" or have no knowledge in the area of basketball.

He Ranked Billups n Gasol over Yao....thats when u should have just stopped reading the article.

Rockets get no love from anywhere. Last night on inside the NBA fat ass Barkely said Rick Adelman should not even be on the list of coach of the year.

But he does he lists mcgrady as 449 (mentioned almost tied with brand) and mentions the trade for lowry as a good thing.

It is obvious you didn't read, no need for you to say you didn't. Thanks for commenting on something you didn't read.

I don't get why everyone is pissed.

He's right. I think his point is that when you have a superstar center who was supposed to change the game (and who did what he did as a 2nd year player), you assumed he was going to continue to rise. Remember shawn786's tracker next to Garnett's numbers?

Yao was on track to rise to greatness in line with Garnett, Hakeem, etc. in terms of numbers. But, he's never going to get there.

20/10/2 is very good. But he's not going to be a top 50 player of all time, he's not going to be in the class of Lebron/Wade/Paul during this era...he'll just be very, very, very good.

It's not a diss...it's just saying that he's reached his peak basically, and we should all realize that.

if Yao averaged 22/12, he'd be the best center in the league. The numbers are that important.

As far as the media goes Yao has several things going against him. His game is not flashy. His English is not fluent. He plays in Houston instead of on the west or east coast. He hasn't had play-off success.

It's not fair, but that seems to be how it works.

Hakeem didn't even get much respect after his first championship. The story was Robinson and Shaq that next year. That was what was so great about the second ring. He took them both out. But to this day the majority of the media feel Jordan's absence rather than Olajuwon's greatness gave the Rocket's their rings.

I dont think that Simmons was intentional in dissing Yao. It is just obvious that he doesnt watch the rockets on a regular basis. From the quote, he seems to think that yao lacks intangibles. Defensively, he changes a lot of the shots that come inside(no stat for that), and he is a catalyst for the newfound fastbreak that we have. Moreso than not, he does make his teammates better. And he should be way higher than no.14, but its not my ranking

I think it's funny how offended everyone gets when the national media doesn't give props to Yao, when some of his biggest, most outspoken critics lurk among us.

You guys didn't read the entire article did you? It was obviously a joke and a jab at a lot of players in the league. I thought it was pretty frekaing funny.

Simmons is a Boston homer and an overall douche. Don't listen to what he says.

If you go through his archives, you'll notice the trend of him talking **** about other teams and players continuously, and just being arrogant overall.
