This is potentially a 1st-round preview. I like our chances with Yao in the team and the Rockets motivated by the chance of winning the division title and avoiding the Lakers until the Conference finals (if we get that far).

For the Mavs, a win means they'd likely face the Spurs in the 1st round. A loss means they'd likely play either the Nuggets or us again. Not sure how they think but a matchup with 2nd-round virgins might not seem too bad for them. I'm not suggesting that they'd tank this last match, but there's not much additional motivation, so if we make it really tough for them for 3 quarters, we should be able to take this one rather comfortably.

I feel better having Yao against the Mavs. Yao always has their numbers. While T-mac was awesome during the last series against Mavs, they have Terry who can shoot lights out and Howard who's a wild card. Yao plays against...Dampier?

[Rockets.com] Ready for the reg season finale

    http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/Rockets_Ready_For_Regular_Seas-309470-34.html

Great read, and I just have to post two Adelman quotes for the p*****s who were afraid of Utah:

“I think it’d be great if we played Sacramento [in round one] – that would be the match-up that would be looking good right now"

“I guess people don’t think we can beat Utah, but I do,” said Adelman, with just a trace of confident defiance in his voice. “We don’t have that same team. Everybody keeps talking about the last couple times (Utah and Houston have met in the playoffs). Last year we didn’t have Yao, the year before I wasn’t here. This team is going to make its own history good or bad. That’s the way I look at it.”

That's the real truth, we didn't have Yao last year and the year before we still had the no offense JVG team and RA wasn't here, so what are we talking about here ? :)

I'm not a big fan of RA's personality...but I do like that he's got a little swag in his game right now. He's proven that he can take a team deep in the playoffs multiple times. RA hasn't won the big one, that can only fuel his desire to succeed with this team.

It is not often that you hear about RA getting outcoached.

I agree. Ive never responded to the outcry over this potential matchup. Thats because some in here have already spoken my mind.

I understand the anxiety of fans given the matchup problems in the past. Utah somehow seem to have us figured.

However, if you want to be a champion, you cant back away from any potentially tough fights. Unless you've ploughed through your toughest enemies, that victory is not gonna be wholesome. Fortunately, we will have Lakers should we get deep and even Utah in the later rounds for all we know. Lets forget about this altogether for now; Utah is the eigth best team in the WF and not even our 1st round opponenets. There are much much more interesting and exciting games to look forward to.

Well, we have to win this game. Home court advantage is huge. I am pretty sure if we secure the home court, we will pass the first round.

I have a bad feeling Jason Terry is gonna drop about 25 on us. Must win for us.

Their only hope is to try and smallball us with a lineup of Kidd, Barea, Terry, Howard, and Nowinski.

IMO, the key to beating the mavpricks is closing out on all their shooters on D and driving the paint on O.

Well, it's good to hear that they're talking and arguing about it. It's going to be up to the veteran players to keep the team focused on the goal.
