Sid, so did you get to see *all* of game 6 in England. We were subjected to watching a 20 mph white Bronco on a freeway for much of the time.
I am originally turkish and have never been to Texas in my life...I live in Ann Arbor, Michigan...I became a Houston Rockets fan when I lived in Belgium during the championship years...I used to watch the playoff games like 4 am in the morning... ------------------
heypartner: lol! That was so aggravating when they did that. Oh, it was painful. I wanted him to hurry up and shoot himself so we could get back to the game. Oh well. ------------------ rimbaud post-a-thon 2000
heypartner, yeah, I got to see all of it. Back then though I didn't have the sense to tape all of the games. I made up for that in '95 when I taped most of the WC Finals and all 4 games against the Magic. Even today I still watch those tapes regularly just to see Hakeem torture DRob down low, and I LOVE watching game 1 of the '95 Finals when the Rockets made that surge from 18 points down. When Kenny kept making those 3's I loved how quiet their crowd went. Hakola, I'm glad I wasn't the only one staying up until 4 am to watch the games! ------------------
I'm #1. I loved the Rockets ever since I started watching basketball. I usually like every team from Houston, Rockets, Astros, and unamed NFL team 2002. I really have no choice on the football seeing as the Saints suck to all things holy. ------------------ Really a member since March 1999.
Born in Houston, went to military school in San Marcos. My graduation present from the Rockets was them winning the '94 Championship. ------------------ I need a new signature. 302 [This message has been edited by Lynus302 (edited April 21, 2000).]
Born in West Virginia, but my parents were from Texas and my much older siblings were working in Houston when I was a youngen. In WV there are no professional sports team-- except they had AAA baseball which they now don't even have, so I started routen for Texas' team quite young. Been a Cowboys fan since maybe 4 or 5 (in Steeler country then), became a Rockets, Astro & Horns (my wife is an Aggie--boy it is hard to re-brainwash them, just kidding it just makes for a lot more fun Turkey Day) fan maybe a year or two after that. I spent 10 years living in Texas later, I was living in Houston during the Rockets runs--I was in fact at the Choke City game. I also was at the Oiler game where we let Joe Montana steal from us a shot at the super bowl because of the darn turnovers of the chuck-and-duck (what a terrible idea to waste so much talent using a 1-dimesional offense). I also remember pretty clearly Bill somethings tying 2 run extra inning homer in game 6 of the pennant, only to lose to the Mets later in that game. And very clearly remember that last second slam by Lorezo Charles (I think that was his name)--my brother was at UH at the time. Every big Houston sporting event had been disastrous before Clutch City (though my brothers tell me about the Aeros conquests), that game really did save the sports soul of the city. Now I live in Warriors, 9ers, & Raiders country, soon to move to Tucson--still keeping that Rocket bumper sticker on my car of course. ------------------
Born and raised in Stockton, CA. Highest murder rate per capita in the world in late 80's/early ninties. I, like many, have followed Sir Charles to the Rockets, his is and always will be my fav' playa'. Since I started to be a fan of the ROX I have come to know and love MOST of them(eg. not Quitten, never Quitten). ------------------ Kapaayaaaa!!
2. Born in Houston, Grew up in Houston(Shutout to my Strake Buddies!), Moved to Chicago for college ( U of Chicago) ------------------ "I would prefer not to"
Born and raised in Houston. I started watching the NBA around 81, and that's when I became an Olajuwon fan. Watching Phi Slamma Jamma with my friends in the 7th and 8th grades. I was a NFL fan before that, but basketball soon became my favorite sport once Hakeem was drafted by the Rockets. ------------------ I have a dream.........his name's Hakeem.
raised in houston. going to school in philadelphia... saw the rockets during the sleepy floyd days and was hooked.. ------------------ get some young blood into that heart of a champion!
#4,It seems like i am the only rocket fan and bbs representative from south america. I was born and have lived all my live(thats not much since i'm only 16) in colombia which i am sure you all know about but for the wrong reasons.Like sid,I had to chose a team watching the NBA finals, instead it was game 1 against the magic in '95 and i am glad this was my choice.I just loved the way the rockets came back from 20 or something down when the game was at orlando and the magic just lost twice that year at home. ------------------ NEVER underestimate the heart of a champion!!!
I was born in Lufkin, Texas. I'm a grad of U of H. '73 I was at the dome for the UCLA Houston game(about 2 miles from courtside.) Phi Slamma Jamma was awesome. Before that, Elvin Hayes, Dwight Jones, Duck Chaney and a 6'9" guard named Louis Dunbar provided some thrills. I lived in Houston for 20 years. I live in Boise, Idaho, now. It is an outdoor paradise. ------------------
I am what's known as a"naturalized Texan" Born in Greensboro,N.C. and moved here when I was 6 months old. Lived in Pasadena till about 8 yrs ago...when I moved to Baytown and got married. Have been watching Houston sports since I was about 10 ('76 or so) NHL Aeros, Astros and Oilers especially, started watching the Rox during the Rudy T,Calvin,Moses Malone days. ------------------ Tired of my sig... Go Rockets Find us a front-court Please!!!!!!!!
I live in Alvin, Texas (hometown of Nolan Ryan) and work in SW Houston. I visit this BBS every day (for about a year now), but don't usually have anything to add to the excellent posts here. ------------------
I was born in Houston and LIVE there full time. But I've spent 4 years in CT. And now I'm in school at Austin. Basically, when people ask me..."where's home?" I say "houston." =) ------------------
I am from Arkansas and I am the biggest Rocket fan in "The Natural State". I have liked the Rockets ever since the late 1980s because my aunt had just moved down there and I was 8 or 9 years old so I picked them as my favorite basketball team. They grew on me and now I LOVE them and clutchcity.net ------------------
Born and raised in Rochester, NY. For some reason, I am still here. Never been to Houston, never been to Texas, but I started following the Rockets in 83-84 season when Rodney McCray(also from NYS)joined the team. The next year they drafted Olajuwan and I was hooked! Coincidentally, I am also a Dallas Cowboys fan... ------------------
Lets see... Started off with brief stints in Washington DC, Boston, Savannah GA, then Columbia SC. Family finally settled in at Dickinson TX Where my sports roots took hold. And my love for AstroWorld. Became an immense Jose Cruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuz and Moses Malone fan. Moved out of Texas to Pa in 87. Back to El Paso TX in 92-95 and then Back to Pa in 95. Anyways. Always been a Rocket fan...Always will be.
Lets see... I was born in Puerto Rico. Moved to NYC when I was 6 months old. One day, my dad had this idea of visiting Houston. He told us that the first time he came to Houston in 1976, he was hooked. Made 5 trips back and on number 6, we came with him. I lived there for 12 years and til this day, I have yet to go 3 days without going to sleep and dreaming I was back home. I always dream I am there mostly after eating Mexican food(wonder why . Went to the one of the worst high schools in Houston(Houston Sterling), but enjoyed those years immensely. We then moved to Dominican Republic for 2 years and then moved to New Jersey where I presently live. I work in NYC in Corporate Finance. I go back to Houston every September if I can for 2 weeks. When people ask me, I tell them I am a Texan 100%. I love Houston and within 3 years, I will be back to raise a family. (Hopefully, God willing.) I love the Rockets with all my being!!! I am hooked on this team for life. Not a rabid fan. But nearing it as I get older. ------------------ Live Rocketball. Breathe Rocketball. Die with Rocketball.
