IS defense, rebounding, and unselfish play. NOT a marketing gimmick that could ruin a once proud franchise. Drafting Ming is a joke...he's going to take forever to develop...he's not even going to be here for training camp...doesn't chemistry count for anything? I'm ranting I know. I don't want to see a 7'5 center shooting 3s...I want to see rebounding and defense. I'm not a ming know it all...but I do know one thing...

Caron Butler is the exact stud we need: REBOUNDING, DEFENSE, UNSELFISH PLAY, and he's a big game player.

"Nene" with a trade of the 15th pick ads even more rebounding, and defense!

The back court gives us a "matador's" approach to defense lets make the front court something nasty!

Cato will never be an All-star but he has a pulse and can block a few shots.

    Mo T: riiiiight.

E.G.: A monster in the making!

CB: could be a " junk yard dog" with barkley lite type rebounding skills.

Nene: maybe a South American Wallace.

Rice: bad feet=easy points on the other side of the court.

Tmo: at least he gets in the way.

Steve: point guards have all star nights against "wink"

Cat: can dribble with the best of em!

Moochie: arguably the GREATEST ball massager of all time!!!

I remember when the Rockets made that trade for Eddie...I ran straight to my computer and hit CLUTCHCITY.NET...the board was blowing up! I want to have another one of those nights June 26, 2002.

I've had a few different names on here and I've posted a few posts...I think this is the one I really want to see happen.

PS: To my boy Steve (who I know is going to read this) I didn't really mean ALL-STAR nights...just really good statistical nights, haha!

You make some valid points about the whole gimmick thing. However, you point out Nene Hilario as if he is so much more polished. Nene is also going to need time to develop, maybe just as much time as Ming will need. Nene has athleticism. No shot. Although I'd like to see the Rockets pick him @ #15 and develop him, I mean with #15 you're pretty much taking a chance with anyone you pick.

"...he's going to take forever to develop...he's not even going to be here for training camp...doesn't chemistry count for anything?"

--You can say that to many current NBA players and past #1 drafts.

--Among all the options Rockets has, Ming is still the No. 1 candidate so far, it seems (according to the press etc.)

--I guess we don't know more than what Rockets coaching and staff know. Just let them do their work. Afterall, they are paid big bucks for doing that.

--Give Ming a chance. He may fail. Hey, every one else could fail, too. I trust Rockets would pick the right one and so far Ming looks good!

--Do any one remember Danny Manning any more? I was in a big 10 school close to Kansas when he was drafted #1. I had high expectations for him.

Don't say Nene will take as long as Ming to develop. He has a very good shot around the basket, he just needs to work on his mid-range J and FT's. Ming will take 2 full years to be ready. Nene will need one or maybe less.

I don't understand why people say things like this. How do you know this Sane? Ming has just as good of a chance to come in and contribute as Hilario. What do you think the Colombian league (or whomever Nene plays for) prepares you better for the NBA than the Chinese league or what? Is it because Mings upper body isn’t as developed as Nene’s? Look at what Paul Gasol did last year compared to Eddie Curry.

Personally I would be very happy with Ming @1 and Nene @ 15. I Think they would compliment each other very well. Sure would solve our size problem inside. Ming 7’6” 300 lbs. Nene 6’10” 260 lbs. 7’5 ¾” reach and Cato 6’11” 255lbs. Compared to the center position last year.

I agree somehow we should pick up Caron Butler he is in the top 3 in talent in the draft at least in my mind. I have seen play mostly every single game in his colege career and have seen him play in real life about five times at Uconn he is the real deal draft him.
