It was a risky, painful, sometimes expensive rebuilding, but it’s done and other teams in the league obviously took notice. You can see dump-and-rebuild operations underway in Detroit and Cleveland. It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Atlanta, Washington, Boston, Houston and maybe even Seattle try to do the same thing.

this is comparing houston to the magic's rebuilding...

He is referring to the salary dumping the Magic utilized to be able to land Hill and Tmac. Too bad he doesnt realize that Rockets already have enough talent. We dont need to drastically dump salary. It would be nice if we were able to get 10-15 mill under the cap after Hakeem retires, but Im guessing we dont need to make 55 transactions to succeed.

And if Orlando thinks they are going anywhere with Hill and Tmac they are fooling themselves.

Is the current roster of the Magic truly superior to the rosters of the 1999-2000 Pistons and Raptors?

Yes, because they have a pretty good PG (Darrell Armstrong), who is a lot better than Lindsey Hunter or whatever Toronto had at the point. Also, they have F-C Bo Outlaw, who is better than any PF on the Detroit team and imho also better than Davis, Willis or Oakley. Also, McGrady is still improving, so he should be better this year. Just wondering what position he will play - SG? All three teams have in common that they are lacking a good center.

To drive Orlando to a Championship without a strong 5, Hill and T-Mac will have to dominate as the combo of MJ and Pip did back in the day.

Are Hill and T-Mac up to that challenge?

He may be referring to the obvious fact that Hakeem's contract will fall off next year. And if they somehow (i'm not suggesting this is their plan) trade walt williams AND/or Cato for a player or players with 1 year left... that would dump SIGNIFICANT cap space...
Cept of course Cato is still BYC... but eh.. you know...
