Is anyone else baffled at the amount of talent on that team? It's too bad they don't play ANY defense. I think they will be a top team in the West next year. Crawford, S. Jackson, Ellis, Maggette, Azubuike, Morrow could all easily start for an NBA team and put up 17+ppg. and then there is Randolph, Bellinelli, Turiaf, CJ Watson, Brandon Wright...etc The craziest part is that Azubuike, Morrow, CJ Watson, and Kurz were all undrafted.
They will never be a top team unless they start playing with control. The problem with this team is that you never know what your going to get. They play with no consistency. They will look amazing one night and then look worse than the Kings the next. Also the fact that they don't play any defense doesn't help their chances of getting better as a team.
Part of their problem is playing out of control, but it is also one of their biggest strengths. They need to give us Captain and CMAG for Tracys expiring...
It's hard to fully evaluate players on teams that don't play defense but they do have some good athletes.
You gotta give credit to Coach Nelson as well. Going back to his Dallas days, he has a knack of getting the best out of his players.
defense aside, another problem is theyre overload with guards. coach nelson likes to play small, and they get out rebounded regularly. cant win many games without rebounds
They wont ever make it to the top. thats ridiculous to say that a team who plays three 6-3 players are going to make it to the top of the western conference, which I like to think of as the big men territory. They play too much small ball. Biedrins is their only big man. Teams in the west with big frontlines. Lakers Phoenix Utah Portland San Antonio Minnesota Clippers Houston (in the center position)
Crawford most likely won't be a Warrior. Monta and Maggette will probably be on the trading block. Not sure about Captain Jack.
What baffles me is why anyone thinks their team is worth a dime. The Warriors are a joke. Their team has one of the most poorly constructed rosters in the NBA. The individual talent is also far overstated by the OP. Of the 6 players mentioned who could "easily start for an NBA team", only 2 of them would start on a GOOD team. Putting up 17+ ppg on that ragged squad wouldn't be much to brag about either. Their collective basketball IQ is very low and since BD left, they don't have an alpha dog leader to keep things together and hold players accountable when facing adversity. The Warriors have no chance to be a top team in the West next year without MAJOR changes and they will be lucky to make the playoffs. The best thing they have going for them is their unique style makes them a big contrast to the norm when playing teams during the regular season. The only reason they generate any conversation at all was their playoff series win against Dallas 3 years ago. Without that, they would be viewed as a pathetic franchise that can't do anything right. But that upset of the Mavs was really Fool's Gold because all it did was make them think they could succeed long-term with an undersized, "small ball" roster. I don't mean to be harsh but the Warriors deserve no credit. They have failed their great fan base. Nellie should be fired and they need to start over from scratch. They will never accomplish anything meaningful with him as coach and (acting) GM. Problem is, they won't be smart enough to make that decision this summer and will likely keep him another year chasing rainbows and teasing their fans.
That's very unlikely. GS are easily over the salary cap. So their best offer to Artest can only be the full MLE.
Captain Jack isn't going anywhere. Neither is Randolph. Anyways Warriors are pretty fun to watch but they'll never be contenders. Atleast not in next 10 years.
Why not? They're rebuilding and Captain Jack is not going to want to be part of a rebuilding process. You might be right about Randolph, but they've committed to Biedrins long term so they're either going to have to choose between Wright and Randolph. So one of those two is going to be available.
Because Captain Jack already said he's happy there and the Warriors just gave him an extension. http://www.nba.com/warriors/news/jackson_signs_extension.html
