Try to win against NO, last game of the year, we can manipulate the game since the possibilities are narrowed down.

    But win vs. New Orleans.

    Please get this straight!!!!!
If the Jazz finish 7th Denver would be better than us at defeating the Jazz
If the Jazz finish 8th the Lakers would be better at defeating the Jazz
If the Jazz finish 6th then it it God's Will that the Rockets stand up with guts and glory and defeat the Jazz!
Our safest bet is to hold onto third seed and win the Southwest Conference. :p

    Indeed.

The third seed is the best thing for the Rockets to advance, especially deep in the playoffs. If we end up with the 4th/5th seed we would face the Lakers in the second round, a team which seems to have our number ever since we beat them on our 22 game winning streak last year.

lol @ avoiding the lakers in the 2nd round. let's just worry about getting out of the 1st round before we even think to look to the 2nd round.

I am all for it. I was traumatized by Jazz in the final minutes of the game 7 playoff series 2 years ago. They just have a mental edge over us. It is proven time over time again.

    Dumb.

If we win out, we we (most likely) end up with 3rd seed. That means, if Utah stays in 8th, we'll avoid the Lakers and Utah until the Conference finals.

I don't think the rockets are qualified to choose the opponent. The should try to get the best seed that they can get. If the rockets drop the 5th, without HCA, I don't think they can pass the 1st round.

Good idea. That would force Utah at 8, where they lose in the 1st round to the Lakers.

However, you don't want losing the last 2 games putting us back into the 4/5 seed. I'd rather play the Lakers in the WCF if we had to play them.

So then I voted for 1 of 2. That's probably going to happen anyway. I think we will beat the Hornets and lose to Dallas. Mavs need that game more, because they want to avoid the 8 seed. We won't even have to tank that game to lose that one.

Uh, why do you think they held out Yao last night?

... oh, come on ... true, its probably to rest him for the playoffs, and get some rust off of Deke, but this way, they've got options in either of the next 2 games to determine who we end up playing.

I guarantee Morey knows every possible possibility of what the odds are for us to win against who, and will play it out well with Adelman ... unlike CD and JVG when we missed picking Roy by winning that last game.

Yes, unlike others, Morey is not naive. He knows team matchups have A LOT to do with playoff success. You can guarantee he's paying attention to the standings and team pairings.

Personally, this is how i see it.
The jazz are a monkey on our backs.
If the monkey goes away (we dont match up in seeding) then yay.
But if it doesnt the way to get it off your back is not to avoid it...TAKE OUT A FREAKING SHOTGUN AND SHOOT IT OFF YA (SWEEP THE JAZZ 4-0)
